Motherboard replacement question

My motherboard went bad and I need to replace it. The question I want to ask and find out is how do I get the replacement to work with the current windows XP operating system that is on the current hard drive now
I want the replacement motherboard to work and run the current operating system without giving me a blue screen. What similarity
should the replacement motherboard have in common with the original? So that the operating system that is on the hard drive now will accept the replacement motherboard and run?

Re: motherboard replacement question

You should be fine. Once the MoBo (if it is an exact replacement) is in and your box is completely assembled you should be good to go. I don't know why you are expecting a BSOD though?

I hope this helps,

What if motherboard battery is bad

If battery is bad, computer will usually ask for time and date to be set every time you unplug the computer for a while. Most motherboard batteries are coin type CR2032 and are 3Volt lithium even available at your local Dollar Store. They can be tricky to remove and replace, so if you have no experience with this, it is best to get professional help or just look for some tips on-line. The instructions for your machine can be seen here:

I suggest you follow the instructions carefully before proceeding. If you need more information about the instructions, you can download the whole manual.

One of the memory slots went bad

That is a bummer. It is not likely that it can be repaired. If you really need that slot you will have to replace the motherboard.
BUT you can check the slot very carefully for debri such as cat hair and or dust. All it takes is one little hair to hold one of the contacts up and it wont work.

Well pc fans,hd,cd-dvd works but nothing happends when turned on i just hear it make sound no beeps no diplay and it doesnt turn off i have to turn off with cablle well i went overseas for 3months came bak...

Either the mobo is bad or the power supply is bad or you may have a bad stick of RAM.
You can have CPU fan and lights on and still have a bad power supply as they put out several voltages.
I wold first remove all your RAM and just have 1 stick in. Try this with each stick of RAM by itself I've seen RAM cause this type of problem. Second if you tested the RAM
I would try replacing the power supply they cost about $40 and are easy to replace here is a guide with pictures
If still no go replace the mobo

My computer restart again and again and hanging problem also and after restarting my monitor screen going on blue .

I know exactly what your problem is. Your computer is not going through the POST because it sounds like the RAM for your computer has went out and died. You need to find out what kind of RAM your computer has and write it down. That is why you get the blue screen of death cause your RAM is faulty and needs to be replaced in order to initialize POST and boot into your operating system so that you can use your PC. If you need further help don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

Compaq presario c300 wont turn on at all

Looks like a bad motherboard ,have you tried another power adapter the one that connects to the wall socket.
The motherboard could cost over $100 ,chepaer on Ebay or you could take it to a Compaq/HP service center and ask for a quote on the repair.
