Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
There is another solution to your problem. Please check your ipconfig. If you renew your getway address then maybe your wireless connect might work. If you need a password make sure you typed in the correct way, because one letter or number makes a difference. You might need to check those proxy settings too.

Re-install the software that came with your wireless hardware, then go to control panel, internet options, connections, then setup an internet connection, chose wireless connection and it should display a list, chose your network then click connect. This should connect you to the internet; also try re-installing an internet service provider ie bt, aol or vigin etc. Also try in controlpanel networking and sharing then chose view computers and devices then add a wireless device.
The only other problemcould be that your hardware is not connected properly, check telephone line connection and the powering on status of your wireless device.
