Paper jams are common phenomenon in the printers.
it is due to improper alignment in the passage tray of the paper. just try to open the area where paper gets jammed and try to adjust the region where the paper gets jammed with your hand and very little force.

How to Fix a Paper Jam in a Copy Machine

It seems inevitable that the copy machine will have a paper jam. You need the copies immediately, so how do you fix the jam? Luckily, ingenuity and a manual, can help you fix the problem yourself. Fixing a paper jam, can elevate you to hero status amongst your co-workers.

  1. Discover the location of the jam. Carefully open the cover of the copy machine and the paper tray to see exactly where the paper is jammed.
  2. Step 2 Turn off the copy machine before pulling out the paper.
  3. Step 3 Pull the page out, the opposite way it is fed into the copier. Pull the jammed sheet out gently. If you tug too hard, the paper may rip.
  4. Step 4 Check for any paper fragments and clean up any torn pieces.
  5. Step 5 Check the roller where the jam occurred to be sure none of the copier parts are loose or broken. The roller should be smooth all the way across with no possible snags.
  6. Step 6 Replace the cover and paper tray and turn the machine back on.
  7. Step 7 Press the button to cancel the paper jam message. This button will vary among copy machines. The display will tell you which button to push.

Solution for error code 005-196

This is essentially a paper size mismatch which causes a paper jam. Technically you submitted a print job for a paper size that did not match the paper which was fed into the printer. Example, your document is legal size but the printer pulled a letter-size paper. As it passes through internal sensors along the paper feed path, the paper size doesn't match the document size (created on the PC) and so the printer stops with the paper in its path posting the error and causing you to have to remove the paper from the jam area. The resolution is either provide the correct size paper based on the document settings in the PC application (may need to be fed in the printer's manual paper tray) or change the document size within the PC application to match the size of the paper being fed into the printer. (Paper size can also be modified in the printer settings on the PC.)

Keep getting paper jam error with my hp 1610 al in one printer there is no paper jammed in the printer

If your printer has a paper tray, do not fill the tray. Overfilling the paper tray is frequently causes paper jams. Many printers have sliding mechanisms that allow different types and sizes of paper to be fed into the printer. If the slider is not correctly positioned, it can cause a paper jam.

Paper keeps jamming in fuser, inner door and tray, can firmware upgrade fix this, its a c534dn

A paper jam as you describe could be caused by the following:

The fuser is defective and causing the jam.
The tray has a problem and it is not picking up the paper properly which causes a timing problem that results in a jam.
A bad sensor is stopping the printer from being able to tell if the right size paper is being fed through the printer.

Try printing from the manual tray to eliminate a problem with the standard paper tray. If it still jams it is very possible that your fuser has an issue and will require replacement. Are there any errors in the error log?

How do i set it to print 11x17. It jams everytime and will not print to that size

Hello :-)
Please open the paper supply tray you wish to use. At the very front of the tray, to the right, you will see a blue dial. This dial is used to tell the copier what size paper it can expect to be fed. You can put many sizes of paper in the tray, but the blue dial MUST match the size that truly is in the tray. If ,for example, the blue dial is set at "LETTER" but the paper in the tray is 11x17, the copier will look at the dial setting and expect the paper to have passed its paper path sensors in a certain amount of time. So if the dial says 8.5x11 and the actual sheet of paper fed just keeps on moving by the sensors (11x17) the copier freaks and treats it as a paper jam assuming it has fed multiple sheets. Happy New Year to you and yours! :-)

Printer error shows paper jam at paper tray and printer stops after printing 3 or 4 pages. I open and close the top access and printing resumes for 3 or 4 more pages...stops and shows paper jam at feed...

Try two things:

Fan the paper before placing in the tray.

Raise the humidity in the room to at least 40% to avoid electrostatic sticking of the paper. Store paper in 40% humidity area.
