MAx Flash output regardless of setting

Hi - I hace a 60CT4 & it's putting out max flash all the time - regardless of whether I'm on manual or not; connected to camera or not; cover up the sensor or not. Please advise as I'd rather not pay the mega bucks to fix it.

Re: MAx Flash output regardless of setting

I have the same problem and i found out that it is the body of the battery pack, there`s a broken wire or something else inside.

Hi Vilas,
All of those cables will not do. Your Nikon D90 has no PC Socket. Buy a NIKON AS-15 and then just hook Flash Sync Cable to AS-15.

Canon Macro Settings for 100mm lens and Sunpak 12R ring flash

Firstly, be sure to check flash voltage. Your 30D may accept max 6V so that your camera can be shot if the flash unit has higher voltage than 6V.
1. Use low ISO to keep low noise....around f/8 or more depends on your need and how much DOF you want.....Set the shutter speed around 1/125 to your max speed to stop any movement (your subject or camera itself shaking).
2. Above is set in Manual mode (iso100, f/8 1/125 or 1/250), then you just need to leave the flash to work in TTL mode.
3. It needs battery, the connection is for syncing to trigger and release a proper flash power (in TTL mode).
Hope this help!

Yes, the 60CT-4 works with the Pocketwizards.
Yes, they will work by connecting the Metz's cable into the PC of your camera.

To get longer life out of the flash tube, don't use full manual all the time. Like shooting more than 300 in less than 15 mins/day.
Just dail those number down.

In need of repair

Hi Mo,

If you need our help, please be clear. I for one have no ideal what you're talking about.

Try these steps;

Name of flash?
Model of flash?
What camera will this be attached onto, by Hot Shoe or PC?
Trouble or problem that you're having when using this flash.
Using reg. batteries or rechargeable and so on.

What is "popped something in my flash...?" Only studio bulb popped if they are rated 1000ws and higher on max discharged, not four AA batteries flash. You can hear when the studio flash goes off within 5 feet.

Maybe we can help you to fix your flash by yourself. You'll be our hands.

60ct4 metz flash head

Hi Canday, As the connections are OK, it is possible that a lead inside one of the wires is broken. You don't say if it powers up or not, so it is very difficult to give more specific advice or diagnosis. It is a professional unit, so I suggest you take it into a top camera shop for their advice. Good luch, John Hannah
