To write to the CF card, you need a card writer on your pc. If you still have problem accessing the CF card, it might be corrupted. Try to reformat the CF card with FAT16 file allocating tablet in the format option on the computer. If its not possible to format this, you probably need to get a new CF card.

I purchased a used pfaff creative vision machine and it came with the 4d embroidery software but no dongle. I am confused - is a dongle the same as a usb flash drive?

Or a way to connect to another device such as a computer. Could be an "adaptor" to connect to usb cable. Is the software on a CD-ROM? If so you will need to move the appropriate software most likely via setup program to the Paff machine. The software may help explain the connection, there may also be troubleshooting instructions on the disk in PDF format. Still stuck try MFG website and or email their customer service.

How can I send designs from my PC to my Toyota 830 embroidery machine when my Pantograms software/hardware is no longer working?

Some of the Pantograms software programs require a USB dongle connected to the computer. However, the driver for this dongle has to be installed before you install the software or connect the dongle. I suspect you may not have installed the driver or the dongle is missing.

Assuming that the dongle is connected:
Close your embroidery software program and all of the Pantograms software, including the Network C software, on your computer and remove the USB device. Put the software install CD into your machine's optical drive. (If your new machine doesn't have an optical drive, get a USB optical drive or copy the files from the CD to a 1GB+ USB flash drive at another computer with an optical drive.) If Windows XP starts the autorun routine for the CD, click Exit. Then double-left click on My Computer to launch File Explorer. Go to the CD drive (or USB drive if you used the work-around) and double-click on it. Open the Rainbow Drivers folder and then open the XP folder. Double click on the program: setup.exe . Choose Complete install as the program executes. Then close File Explorer when the install is done. Now insert the USB dongle and follow the on-screen message about New Hardware found to install the Rainbow driver from C: .

If you do not see the New Hardware found message, try putting the dongle into a different USB port. (Make sure to avoid USB hubs - they can add to USB device issues.) If the dongle doesn't work at any port, you may need to use a different method. There is a flash reader available for connecting a USB flash drive to the Toyota 830 here: http://www.plrelectronics.com/lab/usb_reader.php . (Scroll down to the Toyota machine section. This isn't cheap but it is cheaper than some of the newer embroidery software packages.)

I hope this helps.

I just bought a used Designer 1 with customizing software. Customizing recognizes my external a: Floppy Drive. When I go to Disk Manager to download to a fresh floppy, Disk Manager doesn't see the...

What worked for me was to not put the disk in the drive until I was ready to write to it. Sometimes this would be enough to make Disk Manager find the disk. If it didn't, I would re-format the disk. Re-formatting seemed to force the software to go look for the disk. This worked for me because I did not store all my designs on floppies. I only used the floppy to load what I was going to be embroidering out at that time. All my designs are stored on the hard drive which is backed up regularly, and are readily accessible for writing to the media I use for my D.1.

My grandmother gave me a Huspvarna viking #1+ and

That software won't work on Vista. I wish I had better news for you but the only way you are going to work with your #1+ will be to either buy the new software or find an old computer with windows 95.

Run a disk cleaner through it and clean the disket with a dry soft cloth. After awhile the disk drive will get dirty and it cant read a disk.Do this once a month and you should not have anymore problems. Go to your local dollar store and pick one up.

Using bigger than 64 MB compact Flash Cards

I have the same machine and if you watch the dvd included with the machine it says to use a MC no bigger than 1 gb. I use a 512mb and it works fine. Your computer may not have a MC port so you will have to purchase a memory card reader which you can purchase on ebay or at Fry's for around 10 dollars. All the files need to be saved on the MC card as a SEW or JEF file. When you go to your machine touch the emb. key then the disc key and you should see your files. You may also need to turn the page; sometimes it save it on different pages.

Downloading bernina

Hi, Unfortunately any of Bernina's software that is older than Version 5 , will not work with Vista. There are some software patches available on the berninausa.com web site, but there is nothing out there that will help you if you have any Version 4 software or older. Microsoft really through out a curveball to everyone with VISTA as there is a lot of software out there that will not work in that operating system.
Actually the lowest cost solution would be to get a nice used computer that runs Windows XP. You do not need a super fast, state of the art computer to run embroidery programs.
I bought a nice used computer at a yard sale for $10.00 and it even came with the XP install disk. I replaced the hard drive just because they do wear out after a few years, installed XP in it ann that computer is now in my wife's sewing room and it is only used for her embroidery work.
You might have a computer repair shop in your area where you can buy an older XP computer that has been reconditioned. The few dollars you would spend to get an older computer would cost you far less than buying new Bernina Version 5 software. Good luck...bushvideo

Probel with Embroidery disc

I am pretty sure you can download Disk 100 free from the Husqvarna Viking website. This has all the embroideries that came free with the machine, plus the alphabets (I think!). You can download this direct to your PC or to a set of floppies, depending on what your Designer needs and what support software you have (or have not) got. If you have no Husqvarna software at all, your PC will not be able to read the floppy. It is in .shv format which PCs are unable to read, being an embroidery machine language only.
If you are trying to open the faulty disk in your Disk Manager software, I always found it worked better if I didn't put the disk in the floppy drive of the computer until after I had already opened Disk Manager.
Hope some of the above is useful to you.
