Http:// Hey there cyrill, the download you need is located here. Simply download to desktop and close all other applications. Then double click the file and it should install itself. Just follow directions and you most likely will be prompted to restart once install is complete. Good Luck!

How to upgrade bios for asus p4s800d-x?

BIOS upgrades should only be performed by knowledgable people as you can render your system inoperable if done incorrectly.

A BIOS upgrade is only necessary to resolve a known problem and will be explained in the release notes for any update.

If you don't need it-don't attempt it!

P4s800d x agp apeture size only 256 i have a 512

Sadly no, updated bios wouldnt help. The motherboard was designed for a 256mb AGP card max.

New motherboard is about your only option, or sell the card and get one with 256mb. of memory.

Sorry for the news, thank you for trying Fixya!

Cpu upgrade wont happen

Ok i checked the ASUS website and looked up the CPU compatibility list for your board here:

But unfortunately that particular CPU doesn’t seem to be supported. Must be something to do with the technology inside the CPU or the amount of L2 cache or something like that. (it would require some rather intensive research to find out exact reason why...

And when searching for ASUS motherboards that are compatible with that CPU it comes up with this short list;

Did you clear the cmos when installing the new cpu before powering it up?

i know the CPU you have now runs at 400FSB and the new one runs at 800FSB But that board supports both speeds so that shouldn’t be a problem.

What type of RAM do you have ?
maybe check owners manual for memory compatibility chart for new 800FSB CPU

Have you tried the latest beta bios from ASUS site :
I can not guarantee that it will work but it is worth a try.
NOTE: Updating the bios can be risky and should only be done to resolve compatibility issues or things like that (or to add CPU support) In the rare event of a power failure during bios update your motherboard could become permanently unusable. (Always use a brand new floppy and follow the instructions to the letter when updating system bios)

Do I really need a floppy disk to do an upgrade bios?

Of course floppy is the easiest but if you configure a flash drive with flash drive utilities to be bootable, and the BIOS will support it you can flash from the USB flash drive.

Do I really need a floppy disk to do an upgrade bios? I don't have a floppy disk, can I use a cd rom?

The real question is why and truly if you need to upgrade your BIOS. You should avoid unless you have a specific reason to do so. Secondly you can use alternate methods to upgrade such as a bootable CD, which you can use several programs to create. UltraISO is one and a free trial is available.. The resulting disk will start on boot the same as the OS disk would self start. You should also check your Boot sequence to ensure the read of the bootable CD as priority 1. The bios update needs to occur in Dos, rather than through Windows. Look here for exact instructions fron ASUS:
And look here for Bios update files: Good Luck!
