I tried many cd's/dvd, not one will play, i tried cleaning the player with a disc cleaner.
It accepts the cd/dvd into the machine, then its says it's loading on the screen, but it will not start to play, either the movie or the music. It makes a motoring sound then it stops.
The tv part of the player still works perfectly.
I called philips customer service, "we will send you another for $230.00"
I've had it for 3 years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

has the dvd played dvds before and will it still play cds or it will not play anything??
if it does not play anything any more it could be the disc laser has gone faulty or it just needs a clean..the best way to clean it would be to get yourself a laser cleaner disc.or if you can open it up then you could use a cotton bud to clean the lense.
Hi, Unfortunately , Some DVD players ,especially brand ones cant read some DVD s and then it gives either "loading" or " no disc"..reading on the display... it generally happens when you want to play "A copied DVD/CD " taken from somewhere else.. Just
to make sure that such DVD is ok ,you can try to run them on your
laptop. If the disc itself has problem, laptop does not read either.. Since you have not stated,if it is an old player pls Clean your DVD player's LASER lens .. A clean DVD player Lens ensures that
your DVD disc would be read properly. Unfortunately, your DVD player's
Lens accumulate as much dust and lint as the other parts of the DVD
player. There are many available DVD lens cleaner kits
that you can purchase and use to clean your DVD player.
YOUR DVD disc itself should be clean and finger prints free as well.... Here are three suggested DVD Lens Cleaner that should do the job of cleaning your DVD Player's lens. Memorex Laser Lens Cleaner for DVD

DVD/CD players attract as much or more dust as the other electronics in our
home. Be sure to dust with a microfiber cloth or electrostatic duster
at least weekly, to keep your model running smoothly.
The insides of our DVD/CD player can get dirty and dusty too. A great tool
is a DVD/CD disc cleaner. This cleaner looks just like a disc with some
extra little brushes on its surface. Some DVD/CD cleaner kits even come
with supplies to clean and modify scratches on your discs.
Does it happen for all dvd disc or some particular dvd disc. If it is with some particular disc then clean the dvd and try them. If the problem exist for all the dvd then try to clean the lens by dvd lens cleaner and try to play. dvd lens cleaner will be available in dvd stores.
have u tried cleaning the hea of ur dvd player?after using a dvd player or cd player for long times of continous play say 6 months or if u play too many scratched discs and u dont clean the head of the player it starts skipping the disc or many a times dosnt recognise the disc so it'll give u errors like "Unknown Disc", "Disk Error" etc so i would really recommend u to clean its head using a dvd head cleaner cd.. its easily available in the video stores or malls.. u can purchase any dvd head cleaner cuz there are number of manufatcures for this. im sure this would solve ur issue.
PLEASE DO RATE ME,WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT
It could be a couple things...
#1. Over time, dust and deposits can accumulate on the laser that reads the disc. In many cases, DVD players with this problem can still read CDs. You could try a DVD laser cleaner, which is usually a disc that has a tiny brush glued onto it. Run the cleaning disc 2 or 3 times, and try it again. Try both CDs and DVDs, since CDs are easier to read than a DVD. 2. After a DVD player has been used for awhile, another common problem is that the laser in the DVD player becomes misaligned, inhibiting its ability to read DVDs. In many cases, DVD players with this problem will still be able to read a CD. I'd try a cleaning disc first, since the only way to fix this problem is to bring the unit to a service center for repair.
Let me know what happens after you get the DVD laser cleaner and run it. Hope this helps.
