Problems with Reloading Firmware. Please Help.

Hello. I've had my Zen for more than a year. I was using it one day and I noticed that half of my Artists were deleted. I plug it into one of my USB ports and it just continues to say "MTP Device Located". I tried rebooting my computer. That did nothing. Then I finally looked on this site. Everything was working fine all up until I had to run the Firmware update.
Basically, I go to Reload Fireware via the Recovery Mode. It tells me "Update Firmware now!" for less than a second. Then it goes to the Recovery Mode screen again. I try to plug it into my computer as fast as I can but it does nothing. Is there any possible way I can fix this problem?

    I have done all of that before I posted. Sorry to mention that. The installer recognizes it and then does nothing more. I do not have Windows XP 32-bit, I have Service Pack 2. Anyways. After I do all of this, it says my player is not connected. My computer recognizes it though.

    Why do you guys keep posting stuff that I have blatantly said in my original post? When I go to use that recovery tool from the Creative site, it recognizes my player, runs and then does nothing after that.

I suggest that you format your hard drive.
You do this by holding the power switch in the on position and pressing the reset button. This will give you the option to reset, reload firmware, format hard drive etc.
Format the hard drive, ensure that you are running windows media player 10 also. If you have upgraded to 11 this may have caused your problem.

Once you have formatted the hard drive and confirmed the correct version of Windows Media Player, I suggest that you update the firmware as well.

To upgrade firmware you have to do it from the pc.

try downloading the
MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?

tr yresetting and reloading the firmware there should be a small pinhole on the back and if you push a pin into it then it will reset and reloading the firmware should clear up any issues your having with it hope this helps :)

Hi you can try going to Creative's web site and downloading there Creative MP3 Player Recovery Tool software and what that does is update everything and most of the time it will fix what the problem . I would try that first.

Zen will not lock or switch off and doesn't connect to computer


The only thing I can recommend is to download the firmware from the Creative web site support page and reload the firmware. If that doesn't fix it, I would recommend contacting Creative for an RMA if it is still within the 90 day warranty period.

about this issue of creative zen wherein the device is not booting up to the normal os. and is not being detected by your computer, and giving you options to clean, reset, and format. my brother and i own creative zen, my brother own zen 4GB and i own 16gb. i don't have any problems at all. but my brother does. what i did is i just download the firmware version of my brother's zen that is missing which is version 1.03.04_0.6.1. unfortunately you will not find this firmware version at creative website. i checked a website and i found this. it's at http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/Creative-ZEN-4-8-16-GB-Firmware-10304.shtml
just perform this steps and you're good to go.
1. download the firmware for your zen. 2. connect your zen to your pc. 3. run the executable file (firmware). 4. just follow the on-screen instructions on your computer and you're good to go.

· Make sure you have media player 11
· If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
