Replacing the lamp in the microwave of a Kitchenaid KEMC378KSS01

I am trying to find out how to replace the lamp in the microwave on this built in oven/microwave. Nothing in the users manual mentions the bulb in the microwave. (They mention the bulb in the oven and that's a breeze) I checked the Kitchenaid site and found the parts manual and see that it's a halogen bulb and it's in the $30 range. Just need to know how to replace it. Any ideas?

I had the same problem.  You have to take the covers off the front of the oven and get to the space below the controls and and above the roof of the microwave.  The microwave will them slide out a little and give access to the light bulb connection.  Hope this helps.
My new problem with this microwave oven is the metal spring bars in the door.  They snapped and I replaced them but they do not have the same tension to support the door when open.  I have tried to find a detail of how the parts fit together and can not find.  Anyone with suggestions?

I also have the same issue - the light went out AND the door springs have broken three times and each time the replacement lasts for about 3 weeks. Then you can hear a small pop (the springs breaking) and the tension is gone on the door.

I have a Sears Master Protection Agreement (MPA) for the microwave but the techs always insist the lightbulb is not covered. IT IS. You have to call Sears Home Appliance Service (a nightmare) and convince them that if you have to take apart the microwave to replace the bulb, IT IS covered. They will eventually agree and then it's all about convincing the service tech that comes out to your home of the same thing.

Bottom line: DON'T BUY THIS MICROWAVE/OVEN COMBO. Unfortunately it's the only model that fit into the space our old oven was in so we didn't have much of a choice.

This is for Kitchen Aid Superba model: KEMC378KSS0

Door spring on build in microwave oven

Is this a combination built-in oven with microwave on top? And is this microwave one in which the door opens downward like a regular oven? If so, then this is a common problem for this oven/microwave combo, but replacing the spring is not a job for amatures. It takes a professional 45 minutes typically to do this job. It involves removing trim pieces, removing screws that hold the microwave oven in place, pulling the microwave out a couple of inches, and taking the door apart to get to the 2 torsion-bar springs. Replacing them is quite tricky, as is re-assembling the door. I recommend calling Sears Service (1-800-469-4663) to get a seasoned repairman to come out and fix your oven/microwave. Cost will probably be between $180 to $200.

I need detailed instructions on how to change light bulb on Kitchenaid microwave KBMC147HSS0

Please check the details of how a microwave works which will help you identify before the panel is removed and the lamp replaced.
The top cover of the unit can be removed after the screws can be removed with the power cord removed. The lamp can be seen fitted on the front side with the light to shine into the chamber, you can remove the buld from holder and replace with the same type .

Where do I find instructions for replacing the door handles on the built in microwaves?

I do not think you will find directions for this task. Microwaves are not intended to be user serviceable...But, you just need to take the door apart in an orderly fashion, and force nothing.

Kitchenaid superba combo. Microwave gives

HI, this is an indication of a failed door switch. When the switch fails, the control cannot recognize the closed door signal. Simply replacing the door latch mechanism will solve this issue.

Replace the door latch assembly, asap.

Microwave/Convection Oven has mind of its own: turns to Crisp mode on its own.

Yes this is a touchpad issue. As you have noted the crisp button is stuck and this is the cause of this. You can try removing the keypad and push up the pressed button. If its jammed then replacing it is the only way.
