Most likely you have a slow connection. Try getting faster internet maybe? Not much I can help with there.

If you are still having problems updating, google downloading updates to console aspx, you can download an update to a cd rom and download it that way.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: cant download update for xbox live

Have you set up your connection via wireless or earthnet then when you are conected to the Internet it should let you download the update also if you don't no where the xbox settings are go to the slide or blade where you play your games then at the end you shoud find the system settings or if you have the standerd update there will be a blade to the far right which will display the settings you need you would need to go on network settings the configarate network also there might be a password for your WEP or the other security type . Just saying the password might not be what you think mine was a code to let me in to router that was some random numbers with 2 letters

I conected my hard drive to my friends xbox and recovered my old gamertag .... but im not fully on xbox live .. i have a silver account .. so i downloaded an update . when i put my hard drive in 'my' xbox...

The reason that you are not fully on xbox live after recovering your gamertag is because the gold subscription has ran out. The reason for your xbox not having your offline account is because you probably moved your account to your hard drive along with your saved games. If you cannot connect to xbox live, go buy a cat5 cable and connect it to your modem and it should connect you to xbox live so that you can download the update.

Why cant my xbox 360 read saints row 2 as a game instead of a dvd

Try updating your Xbox 360 console on Xbox Live with the game inside the disctray. Once you join Xbox Live it will automatically prompt you for an update, all you need to do is to confirm.

I have my xbox 360 connected to my modem when i try to join xbox live it says i have to update when i try to update it says it cant download the update is there any thing i can do

yes you should be able to download the update from the xbox live site and burn it to a cd and then put it in your console that way. if not then call up microsoft on 08005871102 and tell them about your problem. they should offer you a reason or a new console.

Still my xbox live update test fails...

Netopia's Modem my also act as a Router protecting your system from internet traffic! You need to check your model to insure what you have. If it is a Router you will have to Contact Netopia in regards to configuring Pin Hole on the Router to open the gaming ports on the Router.
