I have the same headset. Although it claims to be wind-resistant, I find that it works better the closer it is to a full charge.
Keeping the headset within 10 feet of the phone helps too.

I solved the static problem when I reg-hacked my Windows Mobile 6 phone and cranked up the bluetooth voice output to a more optimal setting; since then calls have been very clear.

Let me know what model and manufacturer of phone you have, I will do more research how to mod your phone.

If your running an HTC phone (If have an HTC Hermes) it has Windows Mobile 5 or 6 running the software for the phone.
I made a modification to the windows registry settings.

You will first need to download a registry-changing software:

Then follow these steps to increase your bluetooth output:

To achieve better Stereo sound change the following values, found the the following keys.
I was able to do this in about 5 minutes.

Add new dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

For BitPool:
Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality
Chose one you like. I think 48 is good enough.

For UseJointStereo: use 0 instead of 1, then you got the real stereo.
If you run into any problems, please contact me.

Well, registry setting changes can be a bit overwhelming, and are defiantly not for the average user.
So far, this is the only solution I have come up with.

SOURCE: static-y h700

Since it is only a week old I would take it back where you bought it and tell them it is full of static and get a new one or different one.

This model is notorious for having static problems. You could also do an RMA with motorola since your unit has a 1 year warranty.

hope that helps!

Static h700

Good Afternoon.

Has the headset been dropped, or kept in a hot car? The battery could also be going out too, but unlikely if its only 3 months old. Is the headset near the phone? They do have a 10-20 ft range in a perfect condition. But it works best in my tests only a few feet away. As I roam away from the device, it causes static.

Also, is this everywhere you go, or just certain areas?
The reason I ask, if you are near a Wireless network, it could be conflicting. Bluetooth communicates on a 2.4 ghz band. Wireless Network runs on the following: 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz frequency

Try removing the device from you phone, and re-connecting it.

Ok here is the answer. There H700 have a small foam windscreen inside over the microphone that over time block the sound. The answer is to carefully open the unit and remove the obstruction and clean residue from the microphone and it will work like new. here is a link to pictures and instructions.
