"This is an analog tv and would need a converter box." I just received this message from email@example.com when I asked the question about my same TV and whether I would need a converter box when the changeover to only digital broadcasting comes (in the US) in February 2009. So you can believe the research I did or you can ask them yourself in an email. Do Not Believe the flippant answer that was previously given.

If it is a high pitched whine or buzz it is likely a transformer vibrating so hard it is making the noise.
There are ways to try to deal with this issue but the set has to be opened and probed to locate where it is coming from--
for example with back off and set on a plastic rod can be used to touch areas and exert slight pressure until the sound changes or goes away--then either replace the part or I have used hot glue etc to stop it.
No sorry to dissapoint DS is short for Definition STANDARD ... and is a cheap 20 inch model assigned to category 2 of televisions. To improve its reception you could apply a Digital setop box to it to get all the additional channels seen on a Digital. Probably last longer than most new plasmas and LCD's as this is quite a robust little TV.
I did some lookin and from what i have seen, you are going to need a converter box for February. now two bits of good news. if you go to the fcc web site you can get cupons that make the converterbox about 25- 35 bucks. almost 75% off. now the next bit of good news. i found a manual for your tv.. just copy and paste the link at the bottom of this fix and it takes you to the page. there are tools on the side of the window to zoom move around and quick links as well. hope this helps

as due to Accidently hit remote might have got defective or setting must have disturbed.
refer owner's manual which you must have received during buying set.
