Maybe you need to change the optical eye now.
but first try to adjust the variable resistor/trimpot resistor.
try this options to your player.

(TIP)
if using a cd/vcd/dvd products, we only should play a cd/vcd/dvd dics without a bad scratches. the scratches are making the optical eye worn-out easily.

well you can ask them, its better if you'll just take the optical eye with you. and show them if they have one.

since I am new guy here and don't know if they have an optical eye at any electronics supply. but give it a try. and if they don't have one, reply me and I will help you to find one. just give me the model no. of your unit and the manufacturer, is it a mp3 type? if it is that would be a dvd optical eye.

Tascam guitar trainer MP-GT1; While my unit is on play, I get this forceful, sharp, hissing sound suddenly coming in bursts of a second or a few seconds or in intermittent patches of bursts. What is it? ...

Sounds to me like a oscillation in some circuit. This is a common issue with unstable circuits that can happen to any Op Amp product device. It can be brought on by a connection issue as well.
The noise is best investigated with a scope to find out what it looks like and then to find the problem on the bench. I bet Tascam does not repair it but just replaces a card or board in the unit.

I bought a Tascam ga-30cd amp new, and have barely used it for about six months. Yet it periodically crackles and sound drops out in the middle of a song. I will then press the boost button and it will...

I suspect there is bad soldering on the circuit board in the vicinity of that button. The movement causes the connection to re-establish. It isn't necessarily one of the button leads. Look for a little grey line around the menicus of one of the soldered leads.

Tascam CD Gt1mkii CD Guitar Trainer - skipping around quite a lot, on any cd .unusable. can it be fixed easily and cheaply?

VERY carefully clean the lens with a QTip and 99% isoprophyl alcohol. Use ONLY 99% and it can be a bit hard to find.
Be careful to NOT snag the QTip cotton on the carriage or parts holding the lens... clean ONLY the lens, very gently. Let dry thouroughly before trying it again.

My Tascam CD GT1 mkii guitar trainer is doing everything except when I plug my guitar into the unit, I can not hear my guitar?

Here is the manual if you don't have one:http://www.tascam.com/details;9,21,23,19.html Make sure your guitar cord is working. Make sure your are plugged into the Guitar/Mike input jack.Do not connect a guitar amp to this jack via line out on the amp or otherwise. Set the Guitar/Mike switch to Guitar. Use the Input control to adjust the level of the input.Adjust your Headphone level using the Output control.Carefully read pages 12, 13, 14 and 15 of the manual. There are various combinations of controls that would make your guitar too quiet to be heard. Example: Mix Balance page 24. Let me know if this helps.

I would like to run my tascam CD-GT guitar trainer through the speakers. Does the aux. speaker inputs above the antena connections have volume control through the stereo?

Hi Gargoyle005,

Most Aux jacks have a base level, other then adjusting the level on the trainer your would have to control the volume with the standard volume controls.

Cordially
