Problem for Sunbeam 5890 ExpressBake Bread Maker

RE: Sun Beam 5890--

Almost all things work on this machine except for the first entry one has to make.I want to make Whole Wheat Bread. Whether I set on #2L or P and 1.5 Lbs as called for and push to start. The machine sets itself for 4hr-10mins but the machine just sits there and will not start to knead like any of the other settings which start right away turning its blade...Do I leave this and let it sit there before it starts to churn?. I am making bread but using #3 under French bread which is 20 mins less and the bread is just as good. Is there a time delay set in with #2 to let the flour soak before churning?. Can it be reset somehow?...or is a computer chip faulty?. It is out of warrenty.

- No,that is not the answer I'm looking for. I know there is a express feature on it, but I want to make it under regular conditions.I still want to want to know why it will not work under # 2 setting. It accepts all the entries on the screen, but when I press the start button"Nothing happens, it just sits there" There is no delay time added to it.It reads 4hr-10min, the same as the booklet.I thought you had the answers. I wrote to Sunbeam customer service and received this response:

"Breadmaker model 5890 has a 30-minute delay cycle on the Wheat setting. This allows for a period at the beginning of the cycle to “soften” the ingredients for better results. During the first 30 minutes, the machine does not do anything."

Apparently, this is by design.

Try pressing and holding the Start/Stop button until the machine beaps, you might have a delay timer set for that cycle. That is the only reset I was able to find for it. Unlugging the unit for longer may also reset it. Otherwise there may in fact be a electronic problem and you may need to live with it. Whole wheat needs to rise longer so maybe the machine is just doing it's thing. Have you tried doing a dry run with an empty bread pan to see if it eventually starts to knead after a few minutes?

- I meant unplugging for longer than 30 minutes.
