Mintek DTV-265-D TV/DVD combo.

Had television for about 18 months, worked fine in the beginning now I can't turn the television on. Took it to a repair shop here, but they said they are unable to repair as they are unable to get parts.

thank you, hopefully you can find the schematics.

In answere to your question, I told the repairman the type of telly and he did not look at the television, he stated that he could not get the parts.

and there is no stand by light on

I checked for various things on the internet, I even tried to send an email to the web site on the box that came with the television, but it was returned as mailbox closed; tried to get manuals also, but when you click on it, it takes you to other manuals but not for this television.

I will try searching for schematics later on today to see if I can find anything. I'll let you know.

I tried the email address and it was the wrong address, it was for another company, but the person did give me the following information on Mintek.

909-631-2230 fax Customer service 866-709-9500 877-646-8358 800-838-3315 for products purchased from QVC Technical Support .

I send them an email to see if they would answer me, according to the person who sent me the information, she said there has been a lot of complaints and although they list a phone number, either no one answers or the line is busy, so I tried the the email instead. I also tried for the schematics and the search came back no such thing, oh well.

I will let you know if any relevant information is obtained.

    Thank You, John

I'll let you know, by the way the other email I had on the company was sent back also
    as no longer in service.

You probably right about the company.

Thanks for all your help. John

Took the cover off and looked at the power lead, but could not find any fuse, the power cord leads directly into a board, and thats too complicated for me to even attempt to fix.

I guess this is a throw away until someone can find this company. Hopefully there wont' too many more people buying this brand.

    thanks again, John

Hi you will probably find it very difficult to get the parts for that make of telly did the repair shop look inside the telly or did they just turn you away when they see what make it was.
The problem your having could be one of a couple of things.
The first thing to check would be the internal fuse only check this if you have nothing at all coming on not even the standby light.
If the standby lights on then the fault would be in the high voltage part of the board.
I have looked everywhere for the schematics for your telly and have been unable to locate one on line.
The place to start looking for the problem if you are able to look yourself but only do this if you ahev some experiance in this kind of thing else you could damage the telly further.
If the fuse is blown you could change this first but if it is blown you need to find out what has caused it to blow.
You will probably find that it could be the power relay transformer that the power lead goes into inside the telly this is the most likely problem because if this was fine then you would at least have the standby light on as you dont then it probably is this.
It could even be a resistor or transistor around this part that has gone these will also need testing but without schematics you would be guessing so that would be the first thing to do is locate schematics i have looked and not found any yet but will keep looking for you will let you know.
As for parts if you can get the part number off the part thats gone then you might be able to source one using search engine but you will need to get the part number, this would be on schematics also.
If you arenot able to repair this yourself but can get the part number and source the parts yourself then repair shop should fit them for you.
Ill have another look now for schematics and also see if i can source any parts for your make and model ill get back to you soon ok

Then their is possibility that it could be just the fuse if so these are pretty standard as long as you take the one you took out with you they can find one to match.
If the problem is with the power relay then you might have problems locating part im not sure even if any one stocks the parts for this make it might be a case of sending it back to makers as i asked a friend who knows more about tellys than i do and he siad you can only by genuine as they dont make alternative parts for that make.
He said the only other way of getting parts is if you can get hold of damaged tv thats same make but then your not sure if its got the same problem or not.
These are difficult to take apart and difficult to work on but if you can take the case off and get to the insides then this might help us source parts as the parts will have part numbers written on them that we can search net for.
Let me know if you can take telly cases off or if your not sure then let someone else do it as it can be extremly dificult to put back to gether as well.
Ill have nother look now and let you know ok

hi i am still looking for you have not come across any yet have you tried looking try using ask and type in "schematics for then give make of telly im having trouble locating any but will still look the only other way is to test every single piece on the board but that could take months and you still might never find the problem

Hi so far i have come across customer support number 727-734-7774.
    And their email addrs its
and also this manual you might have this one but if not here is the link.
Have a look see if it helps at all im still looking for schematics ok will let you know soon...

Hi i spent hours if not days researching this for you but i cant ind anything anywhere the telly isnt listed anywhere not in any of the online schematics site.
One of my close friends that i work with said maybe another company has brought that one out and changed the name of the company i couldnt find anything on the net at all about this telly.
The only way you might have of fixing this is by buying a multmeter and just check all the resistors and transisitors that are on the board a multimeter should only cost about £5 or $10 so worth buying now if you use search engine like and type in either how to test resistors then look that up will give you idea of the readings you should get on multimeter and then do the same with the transistor you might be luck and find that it is just one of these gone.
You can buy these from any repair shop so they are easily sorced.
Take the case off and check the internal fuse also should be a clear glass fuse check this for blown fuse and replace if necessary you cant damage it further anyway can you let me know how you get on ok

  • paul proctor Feb 05, 2008

Ill keep looking when i get chance i will let you know ok speak soon.
Have you tried taking the case off and checking the internal fuse it will be inside the telly next to where the power lead goes into the telly its worth a look as this is easy to replace and also cost pennys.
If their was a lightning stryke or power surge this would have blown the internal fuse even if the telly was off but plugged in and the plug was on then this could be worth checking.
If you have had no problems uptill now with the telly like colour problem or sound problem or fuzzy screen then it could well be the internal fuse also have you checked the fuse in the plug and replaced it just to rule that out but im sure you would have done this first let me know ok

Hi sorry but i looked everywhere for any kind of info for you and kept coming up blank.
I couldnt find anything out i even asked several experts on this site that only deal with repairing tvs some of them have never heard the name before and the ones who had said they wouldnt consider repairing as you cant get parts or schematics the only chance you have is testing every part on the board but to do this you need schematics so you might never find the fault.
Also when you looked for the internal fuse it should be near where the wires go into the board its usually a glass fuse like the one in the plug but made from glass instead.
If you wanted to you could get a multimeter and test all the resistors and transistors as this is likely to be the fault one of these blown but theirs alot of them but without schematics you will need to test all of them 1 at a time.
If you wanted to do this then use search engine again and type in testing resistors and transistors this will give you an idea about the kind of results youd get using meter if you found one or 2 that gave no reading at all then replacing these could get your telly back working again but it will be a long job going through them all.
No wonder repair shop wouldnt look at it sorry i couldnt offer you any more help but i tried everywhere for you and everyone on know i dont usually get stumped if i dont know the problem then i usually know someone who does but this one has got me stumped sorry for not giving you the help you needed but i did try everything for you ok

On-screen Menu

Actually, it is not a Projection TV Problem. The problem is with a Mintek DTV-265 26" flat screen digital TV (not projection). I have not yet resolved the problem by unplugging the set, pressing the eject button and replugging in the set nor have I had any other suggetions. The manual clearly indicates Mintek DTV-265 26" (not Mintek DTV-263) but I feel they are very similar; however, the manual does not mention losing/restoring the on screen menu.
