Question about Samsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

2 Answers

Now What??? I was told my samsung hc-p4752w 47 rear projection was out of convergence.. I repleced the convergence myself but can't self focus. Now it's out of convergence again. The auto focus is not working and when i try to self focus the tv displays "check factory data". The convergence i replced were the stk 392-010 . I replaced them on original board. I took the tv to a technician and he reassured me that everything was placed properly and that i would need to align the colors. I'm becomming fed up n impatient .Any HELP??..? BTW i paid $26 for both stk's. PLEASE HELP...

I want to get this straight are you saying that you cant align them
and this is your focus problem or you have two problems that you cant get the convergence and the focus?

it might have been easier just to have the board replaced...

You will need to align the colors through the service menu. Are they skewed or just out of convergence? Also did you check your tolerances on the resistors that are in the IC output circuits? These resistor need to be within 5 % of their rated tolerances. If ya need some more help or advice let me know.

I have a Samsung HC-P4752W and see yellow and bllue halos.

Have you tried to use the convergence function on the TV? If that has not fixed this issue then you have bad convergence IC chips. These chips are microprocessors that align the blue and red tubes with the green (which is stationary). This converges the three tubes to create the image that you see. Failure of these chips (usually from heat over time) is a common problem with projection  TVs. The chips are not very expensive; from $35-60 for the pair. Replacing them involves some tedious desoldering of the old ones and soldering in the new ones. If you have some experience with electronics and soldering it is not hard. Shops will charge $300 and up for this repair. If you want to do it your self post a comment bnack here and I can assist you further.

With power on, press Mute-1-8-3. That will get you into convergence mode. 1 sets factory default convergence. Avoid pressing 2 - it resets everything. 3 restores the last saved settings, 4 switches among fine adjust, line adjust and grid move. 7,8,9 - select R,G,B. The three keys below those turn RBG on/off.

Self-focus to save the settings. S-Mode to exit.

It can be a REAL headache, but take your time, and you'll get it done.

As an after thought....if you have a need to manually adjust the convergence, you probably have something wrong - unless you've just replaced parts and are doing the initial convergence.

Convergence issues

if youre having convergence issues with your samsung HC-P4752W you need to replace both convergence ICs numbers STK392-010 they are available at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pics so you can do the repair your self and they also give free tech support in case you need extra help. Its an easy repair takes about an hour from start to finish, Changing the convergence board wont help as the Convergence ICs are located on the sub deflection board and thats about 400 to replace the board compared to 50 to replace the ICs. Heres the link.

the convergance amps have failed you need to have them replaced there are 2 of them and some resistors may be affected. the cost of this repair can reach $350.00 depending on the tech you get. this is the most common failure in rear projection TVs. the convergance amps work very hard and are bound to fail. they also have very large heat sinks to keep them cool. heat is the biggest enemy of transistorized ICs.
