Tv powers on, but turns off after a few min

36 inch sanyo powers on for a few seconds and then shuts off, hit the power button it comes back on then turns off again, after the third time, u have to unplug it and plug it back in to do the same thing, and sometimes it may stay on for about 1 hour and other times 1 minute.HELP

i have a 27" tv that does the same thing. sometimes I watch for an hour no prob, after 2 hours it switches off and I have to walk away for 10-15 min. then I'll turn back on and it'll shut back off after only 15 min. someone with little experience suggested it was overheating and I should take it apart and blow the dust out of it. but I'm doubtful. I will pursue action given by someone knowledgable, thanks.

Somone with some sort of tv knowledge told me that sometimes people dont realize t but moisture builds up inside and it needs to be dried back out

When I turn it on the green light comes on for a few seconds an then it turns itself off.

You may have a fault in the power supply board and the tv is shutting down in to protection mode

A component in the TV is failing and is not receiving correct voltage, which is causing the TV to enter " protection mode" and shut off. Could be any part of the TV but I would start with the power supply and go from there.

I have a Sanyo 42 inch T.V. and it suddenly shut off. I tried turning it back on by using the remote. the green light comes on for a few seconds and shuts off again.the screen never powers up.

call to the tv service center and do the required things my dear..........
plz dont try to repair it without any experts becoz tv when switched off also contains many voltage in it...

replace the lamp only takes few min make sure you get right one for model of tv the LAMP MODEL number will be on OLD LAMP the tv will work and sound will come back hope this helps

Can't Turn off Closed Captioning on Sanyo 36 in TV AVM-3658

Hi Hfrohman, This may sound crazy, but, press and hold the power button on the TV while unplugging it, continue to hold power button for 60 seconds or more. Release it and plug TV back in. Sometimes that will clear the settings.

Mike-It looks like the power supply is going on your tv-it can be replaced. This happens, usually, when little kids are playing wth the remote or power button on the tv. Turn it off and on a whole bunch of times in a row, kids love to do that, and it burns out the power supply part- to make a CRT tv like your RCA36 incher- which is a beautiful machine- I have the RCA/PROSCAN 36 incher-LAST longer...You should always wait 5 min between turning it off and on. Don't ever sell it. This one is worth fixing. It has better color and sound Than the new plasmas and lcds-The Pros know this. Be carefull, they might try and talk you out of it-so they can fix it and have it for themselves. So what if it's not High Deff. It's a great set.
