Question about Edirol UA-4FX External Sound System

Edirol UA 4FX _Short Audio Signal dropout

I've been using the Edirol UA 4FX audio interface for a while with great results.
I'm starting to think about trying to improve my tech and use my laptop setup for live performance, however while thinking about it I've realised that there's a quiet big problem with the interface, which before didn't really bother me too much. The problem is: while playing back music through the interface, whatever MP3 or tracks in Sonar LE, - after some time, which doesn't seem to be regular - there's always a short but noticeable audio drop out, when you don't hear anything and then the music comes back again. It's not a problem when recording at home and listening to music, but because I've been thinking about the live act, it becomes a major issue, which I wasn't able to solve myself.
Here are my tech specs:
Toshiba Laptop with Intel Dual Core @1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, the aforementioned Edirol UA 4FX audio interface set to 44.1Khz and a Edirol PCR-M50 midi keyboard.
Thanks at advance

Hi, my Edirol UA-4fx is having a problem. The Advanced Effects don't work at all. I get audio, but without any of the effects. Nothing lights up on the faceplate except for the blue usb light. I've tried...

Unplug, change the hardwae switch on the unit to "advanced driver" = "off" and reconnect. It seems that the onboard effects are not available when in advanced mode. :(

Hello friends Iam also having same problem with my c772 laptop . I have sound working but mic is not .. I think it needs different audio driver that could enable mic and audio .. thanks

The mic output on the ua-4fx only supplies 5mA of power. If your mic reqires more than that, then it won't work. Consider an external mic preamp.

Edirol UA-25 not working on Mac OS X

I had the same problem. When I installed the Edirol software it prompted to 'reboot' and when it restarted all the lights on the Edirol came on.
Why don't you try it like that.
Hook up the Edirol Install the software Reboot
Best of luck Victoria

No sound out from input

It's probably your computer, more specifically the type of application you're running it on/in. Also, when you install or fiddle with the settings, you have to be careful because it can be so confusing fixinfg them.

Problem with guitar

1.make sure the guitar/mic switch is pointed to the guitar side. increase the guitar/mic level. increase the output level. 2.another thing you can do is check the "sound and audio devices" to see if everything is set to Edirol UA-4FX. If everything isnt, fix it so that it does. and remember to disable your computers stock sound card. Edirol UA-4FX is your new sound card from now on. 3. if thats not the case, try reinstalling the drivers. 4. If all of the above fail, you probably have a loose connection/ bad wiring in the guitar/mic 1/4" input. you can choose to open up the device and solder that yourself and possibly lose your warranty or have the entire unit replaced. Hope I helped! good luck!
