Question about Samsung RS2630SH Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Refrigeration problem My temp readings on the front of my fridge read -18 and +3 but the temps inside both are not what it says, If I switch the fridge on and off the compressor kicks in and the true readings come up, once the temps come back down to -18 and +3 the fridge and freezer starts to become warm again but the temps for both stay the same -18 and +3. I have the same problem and I keep turning it off and on now I'm worried something else happens to the fridge.Could you help me solve the problem or get someone to do it? just to remjnd you that the temprature inside the fridge and freezer is more than what is showing in the side of the door and if I turn it off and on it will show me the right temp which is much higher than what it should be.

Re: refrigeration problem

Sounds like a main board problem cause the temp should not be accurate one minute, then way off the next. I would have someone look at this cause it would be difficult to figure this out without being there to troubleshoot it

Sub zero 690 control center readout

A picture would be helpful, but there should be two 2 digit numbers. the one on the top should be fridge temp reading somewhere around 34-40, and the bottom one should be freezer temp, reading around -2 to 05.

HI jACQUELINE.well i reckon the fridges r a bit temperaMENTAL.:).Before u do anything well u can check weather u have ice build up on the rear panel inside freezer compartment.either way i would first turn it off for 24 to 48 hours.then remove bottom plinth panel (bellow the door).thoroughly clean condenser coils right to the end.then try u could get lucky.if it doesnt work then the problem could b inside the panel.def/heater,fan motor,t/stat,or the board.good luck Ali

Put in garage now unit will not keep cold or freeze.

Since refrigerators were designed to run in your 72° kitchen, when you put a fridge outside, where its colder than normal operating REFRIGERATOR temperatures, i.e. 35-40°F, because that ambient temp is colder than fridge temp, the thermostat in the fridge section reads it as normal temperature, and does not turn unit on. it does not read what the freezer temp is. You have a couple of choices: bring the unit inside, heat your garage, or only use it for pop and beer in the summer. You can reply here or send me a question from my website:

Freezer not maintaining temp

sounds like the evap thermistor took a ****. in the back of your freezer you have cover that sits over the refrigerator coil. under this coil sits a heater element that is turned on and off to defrost the refrigerator coil based on how long you've had the door open. the evap thermistor reads the temp inside the freezer.. close to the refrigerator coil.. and tells the heater element to turn off after it reaches a set temp where it can be sure that the ice has melted off the refrigeration coil which is about 60 deg. if your thermistor has taken a ****.. your heater element will only shut off based on the "fail safe" time (which is based on how long you've had your fridge door open) leading to a hot freezer.
i suspect your at home more on the weekend.. inside the fridge.. getting cold beers.. and that is why it ends up hotter on the weekend.

Whirlpool side by side Refrigerator not cooling, two -- where -18 temp used to be.

the fact the bowl was filled with water and that you said the inside of the freezer was coated with ice, indicates a failure of the defrost system.
now the ice has gone, reset the temps and wait to see what happens

Refrigeration problem

It sounds very much like control board problem. The chances of both sensors at fault seems unlikely. Unusual that it is the exact same temp unless they are your setpoint requirements. I would advice contacting reliable fridge guy to check the cabinet. Hope this is of some if not much help.
