AC/Battery powerup I have a 2170us that will power and run fine on AC power, yet shuts off when AC is disconected. The bateries have been optimized, show 100% charge yet it will not powerup on battery power. Thoughts?

First thing you do to power your laptop on again try removing the battery and the charger complitly leave it for 10 sec without power then press the on off switch for 2 or 3 times without puting the power or batery later try not to put the battery and put only the power adapter and start your laptop dose it starts if yes good shut it down and put the batery in and start the laptop if its starting and leave it running for cuppul of hours and then again remove the power adapter and let it run the system with batery power if it stays on and fine you are ok and fine there was just a power dump but if it fails in any case like fails to boot with power adapter and so you have adapter issue need to be checked if dosent work with batery it self its a batery issue and needs replacement .
regarding the keyboard issue you can open the kay board and clean it with contact spray if posible.

Try to perform power drain on the motherboard.

heres the steps:
take out the battery
unplug the power adapter
press and hold power button for 30secs
put the battery back in
plug in the power adapter
power on the computer

if same issue will happen then you need a battery replacement.

ok sounds like you have a dead battery
1) if turns but slowly:

posible causes:
1.1) old dead batery/
or underchaged battery >check altenator in this case

did you leave your headlights turnt on and drained the battery of its charge?if so get a jump start and then run the car for 30-45 mins to rechagre the battery

if you have at your disposal anothere batery that you know has a good charge
try starting your car with that batery(not using jumper cables) hook it up!
if the slugish turn over is still there

1.2) check your wire conections for corision this means completly disconecting 1 lead at a time (only on one end of that lead)and cleaning them with a wire brush or some sand paper.
(on the battery and the starter also the ground strap conection to the frame.)

2) WONT TURN OVER AT ALL:
posible causes:
2.0) dead battery >try charging it>get a jump start
2.1) blown turnkey igntion fuse
2.2) blow fuse for main har nes wires
2.3) bad starter
2.4) corosion on wire conection (most often the batery terminals)
2.5) starter replaced and hooked up incorectly.

2.6) alram system preventing the turnkey igntion system from getting power

key code lock out usually happens when you have entered the wrong code too many times leaving the battery connected should allow the timer to run down for 30 mins so you can try again, it is cumulative though so the more you get it wrong the longer you have to wait. make sure battery is fully charged first.

battery shortage buy bigger batery from game stop.

Check that the AC power works, go to a repair shop and test a different one or have voltages checked with a multimeter.

If the AC adapter is fine, then it is usuall because AC socket solder joints on laptop are broken. In this case , it is a delicate repair, and must be done by an expert repairman.

If it charges the battery but won't run on AC (without a battery) then something on the motherboard is probably faulty.

Try taking the battery out for 30 secs or so and then replacing it. You'll find a couple of locks on the bottom of the laptop that will release it.

Hi Asadi Hope you doing good. Please try the following solution : 1. Disconnect the power cable. 2. Take out the battery 3. Keep holding down the power button for 60 seconds. 4. Put the battery back in. 5. Connect the power adapter 6. Make sure the Power adapter is switched on and laptop is on AC Power 7. Wait for 5 minutes and try to restart the computer 8. If it still doesn't starts. 9. Hold down the power button for 60 seconds with AC adapter and battery connected 10. Try to restart now and check. 11. If it still doesn't switch on 12. Take out the battery and run on only Ac adapter and restart. Please advise if this still doesn't helps. Regards Harry
