2008 Trend Micro Internet Security not compatable to Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3.
I have deleted all of the old 2007 and new 2008 Trend Micro Internet
Security virus software from my computer, because of the multiple alert
messages, that I was having with their new 2008 upgraded software.
Also, I don't want to wait until sometime in February 2008, for them to
released a "working" version of their Trend Micro Internet Security,
that is compatible with Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3. I don't
want to remove any new Microsoft service packs, or uninstall the 2008
Trend Micro program installed in my computer and re-install the
PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 back into my computer, and wait
again.... until the release of their new 2008 working version.
I was receiving these error messages: Trend Micro Internet
Security Message: Your Unauthorized Change Prevention Service has shut
down. Try restarting Trend Micro Internet Security to restore Your
Unauthorized Change Prevention Service. If the problem persists, please
restart your computer. If you continue to receive this warning, please
contact Technical Support.
I kept getting this "Alert" message: "Alert Message: Trend Micro
Internet Security. Unable to recognize the software configuration.
computer to restore the missing information. If the problem persists, please contact technical support."
After eight emails back and forth....and multiple number of lines of
instructions, I did not want to screw up, delete, uninstall and then
install any more files...in my hard drive or registry.

You cannot upgrade (as you say load ) from Windows XP to Windows XP. You simply cannot do this and there is no point in doing it as I explain. You can upgrade Windows XP to Windows Vista easily. In the case that you want to keep Windows XP and want to enjoy better security and new features than what you do is you go to "My computer" icon and right click it and then take properties of it. The new page that will open you carefully check for these SP1(Service Pack 1), SP2 (Service Pack 2) or likewise SP3. If you do not find any (SP)Service Packs than according to your requirement you can download and install SP1 or SP2. Caution: The third level service Pack for Windows XP is SP3. Microsoft has declared that it is not for everyone. I strongly discourage you to install SP3 unless you have a strong requirement for it. After that you can put your XP on normal regular updates from Microsoft.

Well...when using trend micro you shouldn't need windows defender. You should also try cleaning your registry. I own a new computer with vista as well. If your registry is just a little bugged up your whole computer could be dragging. Try the programs below and see which one you like best...
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm You should continue cleaning your registry about 3 times a week.
1. make sure that the previous installation is inactive 2. since this is a new computer, upgrade to the Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 version. use the same serial number and remember to create a NEW account when prompted.

I had a similar problem and this worked for me
with Trend Micros Internet Security.
You will have to uninstall the program first then reinstall it, otherwise it
will hang and cause problems with your computer.
In order to uninstall it do these steps.
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > System Configuation.
Makes sure you select Selective Startup, and that Load Startup Items is unchecked.
Click OK, and you should be prompted to reboot.
After you reboot and the system is loaded your Virus Software icon will NOT
be in the taskbar trying to load.
Now go into control panel > Programs and Features.
Find the virus program, hightlight and select the uninstall option.
After its done doing that go back into the Control Panel >
Administrative Tools > System Configuration. Select Normal Startup
and hit the OK button.
Reboot again when you see the button prompt.
Now, after the system comes up, reinstall your virus software,
You should be good to go from there.
The process is for Vista, but if your running Windows XP it is very similar.
