Agitator very noisy while washing

I have a kenmore 417.94802301 stacked washer/dryer. The agitator makes a lot of noise during the wash cycle - almost like something was caught in there. howevver, we have replaced the agitator with a new one and it still makes the same sound. it seems to be working okay, just making the awful noise. Any ideas what is causing the noise?

It's not really a squeaking noise. It's a grinding noise from inside the clutch assembly. There are 3 plastic rollers that slip and do not engage. We have actually replaced the agitator twice, but it still makes the same noise. Are we getting defective agitators or is there something else we are missing? We appreciate any advice or ideas.

There is a small roller that tightens the drive belt for the drum inside this unit. If it is loose it makes a squeaking noise. Tightening this may solve your problem. You will have to take off the back panel to do this repair

Another thing is the rollers. there could be one stuck, or have a flat spot on it. that would also cause a grinding sound. If you don't find anything like that, i would take apart the agitator then run the machine and see if the noise persist. If it still persist with the agitator removed, then its not the agitator. Its another moving part making the noise.

Thumping/knocking/rattles during wash agitation cycle

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

Washer make a clicking noise

Zoobs, you could have something stuck under the agitator. The agitator will pull straight off. Grip it on each side and pull up hard, but don't hit yourself in the face. If that don't work, try slipping a belt under it and pull. Check for something caught under it. Another possibility could be the nylon suspension rod socket supports in the back. They will make a noise during agitation if they are dry. Put a little 3 in 1 oil to quite them down. Take the front panel off and check the pulley and belt, see if anything is out of whack. I also often find the motor support hitting the bottom panel during agitation making noise. Take the front panel off and observe during agitation. See if the support is striking the bottom. If so, just bend the bottom panel down. back.
