Question about KitchenAid KWCU205HSS Kitchen Hood

4 Answers

KitchenAid wall mounted stainless steel stove hood (model KWCU285HSS) The florescent bulb stopped working. A new bulb didn't work any better. When I tried to install a new starter I noticed that the receptacle for the starter is loose then the new starter slipped up into the area inside the canopy above the light. Please tell me how to open the canopy to get inside that area above the light. I would also like to know exactly what replacement starter is required and who sells it (Ace Hardware had a similar one, but not exact). Spencer

What a stupid response. Do you serious think I would be writing to you if I haven't taken out the screws holding it. There aren't any screws - that's why I'm writing to you.

  • Spencer437 Jan 29, 2008

I already downloaded the manual. It's an installation manual but doesn't tell you how to open the canopy as I want to do.

  • Spencer437 Jan 29, 2008

Doesn't have anything about the particular model I have. I need detailed instructions on opening the canopy of this model.

These solutions are worthless - they could have been generated by children or even an automated reply. If I don't satisfactory solutions by noon tomorrow (1/30) I will instruct my credit card bank to reverse this charge - and any more charges from you in the future.

Hi ahev you took the unti off the wall as you need to do this to be able to acess the internal electrics of the unit.
Did you fit it on the wall or get somebody else to do it.
Their is three screws holding it to wall one either side and one up towards the top let me know if you understand what im going on about

You know if you look from under the hood when its on wall i take it it is still on the wall have you removed the filters so you can see inside the hood if so their is going to be 3 screws about 2inches up from bottom of hood and about 1inch in from either side then their will be 1 in the middle but further up towards the top of the hood.
You wont be able to do this yourself as they are pretty heavy and it will fall if somebody else isnt holding it whilst you remove mountig screws.
Is the manual you got the one that tells you how to install the hood if so look through and it should show you how its mounted.
Let me know ok and ill help you further

Fan is not working but makes a humming noise at lower speeds and clanking noise at highest speed. When last working there was the clanking noise when I turned off the fan. Please help.

Then turn it off immediately just to be safe that nothing will be broken, can you see the interior? Is there anything broken or loose that might cause the noize? If yes remove.
If not try to clean it with a little cloth or anything, maybe it is too dusty.

Our Kitchenaid Range Hood model KWCU405SSS has a code "C" in the display. What does that mean?

I just did this and it works.

1.) Make sure to turn off both the fan and the lights. If you skip this step the next step won't work.

2.) Press and hold the + button for 4 seconds until the "C" disappears.

Repeat in another 100hrs of use.

Light blew out, I replaced bulb but it still will not work

Unplug the fridge. Reach into the bulb socket and bend the brass tab toward the opening with a crochet hook to better contact the base of the bulb. Clean the screw threads with WD-40.

Light blown then fan doesn't work!

take out switch assemby and check if the track of the pcb is blown - caused by the bulb goiung. you can often repair by soldering in wire links. bet you have 12a fuse in system - should be 3a. track has blown instead of the fuse
