Question about Dryers
WE HAVE AN OLDER MAYTAG GAS DRYER, MOD. # LDG7500ABW SER. # A3479016HF THAT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO DRY CLOTHES. I AM TOLD THAT GAS DRYERS ARE MUCH QUICKER THAN ELECTRIC ONES, BUT THIS ONE VERY SLOW.
WE HAVE 2 90' S AND 7 FEET OF 4 INCH AL. DUCT THAT IS CLEAN. I WAS TOLD THAT WITH THIS MODEL OF DRYER YOU NEED SOME BACK PRESURE TO MAKE THE TIMER/ BURNER CYCLE PROPERLY. IF I PUT A RESTRICTION IN FRONT OF THE VENT ( AS PER THE REPAIRMAN. WE TOOK THE DRYER INTO HIS SHOP )LEAVING ABOUT 1/2 INCH OF GAP IT DRYS BETTER. I AM TOLD THAT IT SHOULD DRY A BIG LOAD IN 30 TO 45 MIN. THIS STILL TAKE 45 TO 60 MIN TO DRY A SMALL LOAD. CAN YOU HELP?
Have you checked to see if there is an obstruction in the gas valve itself or if the solenoid is worn? If there is, it will not allow as much gas through, therefor making a smaller flame and less heat. If not, check for pinched gas flex lines either before or after the gas valve or leaks in the combustion chamber. Also take out the lint trap, seal it up with cardboard cutout with a hole in it, take an air compressor with a blowout valve on it set at about 200psi, cover your face and blow out the trash out of the internal ventilation system on the dryer. Should work better after all this. Hope this helps.

Tips for a great answer:
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
