No, there usually is no pump involved. Water pressure from your house is piped in through the back of the fridge. It probly is not getting turned off in time. Either it has a float like a toilet tank that is out of adjustment, or a timer and a valve. Too much water pressure would fill it too fast. Maybe a small valve on the water supply could slow the incomming water and lower the level.

My Maytag ice maker stopped working; ice on doors & draw; What do you think might be causing this?

As odd as this sounds, my Maytag MFX2570AEM stopped making ice. I could feel ice in the tray but it suddenly stopped ejecting or making more even when the bar was in the correct position.

I read many articles telling me the motor was dead, the gears for removing the ice from the tray needed to be replaced, etc. THEN, I read one person who responded that his issue was resolved with a HAIR DRYER. It turns out something about the unit had frozen due to water getting on it, etc.

Sure enough, after blowing a hair dryer into the ice maker for 5-7 minutes I replaced the ice maker drawer and in about a minute it ejected the ice and filled the trays with water again. It has been making ice ever since.

Why is my ice maker causing blocks of ice at the bottom of ice bucket ,also on freezer baskets ?

Sounds like there is a leak in the water fill line to the ice maker or the timer in the ice maker is defective causing the fill cycle to overflow the cube tray and then freeze into blocks in the freezer.

My ice freezes as a block when dispensed into ice tray

There are water level adjustment screws behind the plastic cover of the ice maker to adjust the water level when it refills after dumping a tray of ice. When there is to high of a water level it spills over onto the cubes freezing them into a big block. Try to adjust the level of water. There is a arrow which tells you which way to turn the screw to get a smaller fill fixing the problem.

Samsung RS265TD Ice maker does not fill with water. After I press test button and the ice maker cycles I manually fill the tray with water and it will eject on next cycle etc. Good water supply on thru...

Hello
Either the fill solinoid is bad or the inlet tube at the ice maker is frozen.
Try running a hair dryer to remove any ice that may be blocking the water from coming into the ice maker tray.

I just changed the ice maker on my jenn aire ref. JCD2289AES. The old one was leaking everywhere and making a big frozen block of ice . It seemed very simple but, it the cube tray is not filling with water...

there is a solonoid valve at the back of the freezer section (externally) which should release 7 seconds of water into the ice tray to fill it..
the most common cause of leaking ice makers is that the valve freezes up if not much ice has been used.. and you simply need to thaw the freezer out overnight (put the contents in a cool box, or wrap it in lots of bubble wrap/newspaper and cool blankets to keep it frozen)
that aside, there is a wire ice-stopper that goes up and down as the level of the ice rises and falls.. if it is in the raise position, the ioce maker won't do anything.. you can gently press it down, and things should start almost immediately.

Water leaks from ice maker in ice tray.

When the ice maker calls for water it'll be filling for about 7 seconds if is more the ice maker inside control board is bad , but if there's water in the ice maker all the timeeven after or before it calls for water it means that the water valve (solenoid) that supplies water to the ice maker is leaking and you have to replace it.

Kenmore ice maker not releasing ice - it stays in the bottom and ice maker makes sounds like it's trying to kick it out but doesn't. It's frozen in a big block.

Sounds as if your water valve is letting too much water in and too big of ice cubes won't let the rake strip out the ice. Look and see if the ice in the tray is up to the round arm with the fingers. If it is then the water valve needs to be replaced but you will need to get that ice outta there. Take the ice maker down by removing the 2 screws holding it above the tray. Sometimes there is one under the tray as well. Unplug the ice maker and run hot water over the tray keeping the water away from the electronic part. This will release the ice and then reinstall the ice maker.

Another possible problem is the motor module may be broken. Pull the white cover off the front of the ice maker. This will take a little elbow grease. When you access the module (You will see a white dial about as big as a half dollar) see if right in the center of that dial one of the two prongs holding that dial is broken. If you pull on it a bit and it comes off then you are sure that your module is bad. To replace it...remove the three Phillips head screws holding it on. The shut off arm will also be attached...just pull it out with a good tug. Pull the module straight out and replace the module. When replacing the module, you may need to rotate the arm in the ice maker with the fingers on it to fit in the slot in the center of the module. You should have ice within two hours.

Ice maker problem

Clear the Ice tray by pressing the button under the ice maker. The problem is that the ice is in the first couple of slots is not dumping and the tray tries to fill again and over flows. I pressed the button and cleared the tray of ice (This will tilt the tray and twist it to empty it) that was re-frozen several times without dumping. My ice maker works perfectly after I did the above. I think the problem arises if the door did not close completely. I stopped hanging the dish cloth on the door and on my LG Dish wisher. I hope this helps
