If you can receive a fax but can't send them, then the G3 fax board is working. It is therefore a settings problem in the unit or a telephone company issue. Review your TX settings and confirm that you have not turned off the send option. If that's ok, then move the fax unit to a different telephone wall outlet and try it. Are you sure your telephone agreement allows out of area dialing? If you have only local service, you'll not be able to dial out to anything outside your local area.

You can hook a fax to any standard phone line. That is what they are designed for. The only issue is if you share the fax with your telephone, you will need to set the machine up to receive the fax before you answer the phone.
