Question about RCA D44LPW134 44" HDTV

Picture format changing

We have had this tv for 2-3 years now with constant issues. Bad buy but we're stuck with it now. The current problem is the picture changing formats apparently randomly from 16:9 to cinerama to 4:3 and back again. I can't connect it to anything we are seems to be a short someplace that makes it jump like this. Any ideas?

actually it was something in the menu called "curtains" which, when I unchecked it, seems to have solved the least one of them. The mirrors still seem to get "out of whack" once in a while, but a simple unplugging for about 10 minutes and then a restart seems to fix it. Thank you for your idea.

I think that that tv is equipped with an "autotformat" feature there should a setting in the menu to change that option. check owners manual.

Proscan tv flickering

I'm sorry that the picture on the TV has constant flickering. Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation:

  • Please make sure that the connections are secure and proper.

  • Try connecting a different video source like DVD player or VCR and check the operation. If it works with another device, the issue might be with the input device currently.

  • Also try connecting the device to a different port in the TV if no other devices are available.

  • If the issue persists, try with a different cable.

  • Perform a power resetting and check the operation. To perform the power resetting, unplug the TV from wall outlet for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications/additional help.

Our tv just started this today. TV is on w/ dish. You can hear the sound and the picture is blank. Turn tv off and on picture comes back for a few minutes then off again. The TV is only 2-3 yrs old. ...

No pictures on ALL video sources? Lasted 3 years, you are lucky. I just fixed 2 years old SAMSUNG with bad power supply.
There are four boards that can cause no pictures: T-CON, MAIN, POWER SUPPLY, BACKLIGHTS INVERTER boards.
You need to troubleshoot it or have it repair, you can read my guide first to get basic understnading so when the repair tell you the cause of the problem you will at least know if he is telling you the facts.

Or, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Constant blinking

Hello, Thanks for giving Fixya the opportunity.

The constant blinking is referring to ether a power supply board issue or the TV is currently hibernating.

1. Unplug the TV from the wall, allow it to sit for a min or two.
2. Plug the unit back into the wall.

If the problem persist then its not doubt the power supply issue inside the TV. Many techs including myself have fixed issues like this for less then $2 bucks, Allow me to give you a youtube video link of me changing out bad capacitors in a View-sonic Monitor.

When I try to take a picture a message reads "card error." It asks me to format and when I choose yes, it eventually tells me that there is a format error.

Sometimes the memory cards just go bad.

If you have a card reader on your computer, put the car in there and see if the computer can read it or format it.

If not, its time to buy another card.

Your current card may be under warranty since some have 5 year and even lifetime warranties.

Good Luck!

Tv turns on w/pic then pic dissapears light blinks 4 times

I have the same issue, we've had to change our bulb three times in less than two years. now we have 61" expensive paper weight. Our current bulb is less than 6 months old. The TV is only 2 years old and like i said this is our third bulb.

the blue light blinks 4 times. you get sound. then a few minutes the the picture returns... then it goes out, and the cycle goes on.

A solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

The camera switches off without taking picture

that's going to be your memory card.

0. make sure the memory card youre using is good for your camer (i.e., older cameras may not use high density memory cards over 2 or 4GB in size, and will not accept them.)

1. try a different memory card. Your current one may be bad.

2. try to start up or get into "view" mode instead of "take pictures" mode so you can reformat your existing card to fix it. Find your setting for reformatting the memory card and do it.

3. if you cant get into your menu system, format the card on a laptop computer with a memory card reader in it, or a desktop computer using a memory card reader. Use windows explorer to navigate to the new "removable drive" created when you insert your memory card, right click, and choose format. You dont want to format NTFS, you want FAT32 or FAT. NTFS if for computer hard disks, not memory cards (cant read it in the camera afterwards..)

Good luck! Write back if you're still stuck.

4. there's always a chance you have hardware failure on teh camera if none of the above works. what's your warranty? Did you buy it with a gold or platinum credit card? It may extend your 1 year warranty to 2. Check with your credit card company after finding the date you bought it.

Constant changes in picture colors.

It is a 20" TV set and will most likly, im afraid to tell you, cost more to fix then it is worth. The problem is a bad Picture tube, an intermittant CRT socket or the video jungle IC is intermittant. If you want to invest in an estimate, check out first if it will go towards the repair, as then maybe you can get it fixed at a good price, as long as the picture tube is not the problem Good Luck
