No audio I've got an Acer AL1717 17" flat panel monitor and everything is connected as it should be (double and triple checked), yet I get no sound from the speakers. I know I'm getting sound from the computer, because I can use my headphones from the same jack and get all the sound (CD, windows sounds, etc.). I've triple checked all the sound settings and everything appears to be correct (set for monitor speakers etc. - although I've tried every other setting too). Am I missing something? Is this monitor simply not audio enabled even though it has the audio in port and comes with an audio cable?

how old is the monitor?

it sounds like the inverter is shot on the monitor. shouldn't be an issue with the pc.

Check if the driver is working properly and if you have selected the specific device in your audio settings in control panel.

Sounds like you've lost audio output from the sound card. Unplug the audio cable from the sound card and plug in a set of ear buds or headphones. If you don't get any sound your driver's not working. Try reinstalling the old driver.

I would double check to see if the audio cable is firmly connected with the computer and the monitor.

Make sure that the audio cable is coming out from the audio out (should be a green jack) and then going into the correct jack on the monitor. If that doesn't work try another audio cable and test.

double-check your connections. I suspect that you may have plugged your line-out into either mic or line-in.

Did you plug in the audio cable to the back of the computer? If so, this may have disabled the front audio connections (or vise-versa). Try unplugging the audio cable from the computer (that is connected to the monitor) and see if your headphones work. If so, there is the solution to that problem.

Check the audio connection on the back of the monitor and double check that it is plugged into the correct port on the back of the computer. If the monitor has amplified speakers, it would be a good idea to connect to the 'line-out' connector on your computer. This would avoid disabling your front audio panel.

Lastly, check the volume on your monitor's built in speakers. This monitor can double as an LCD television, so it most likely has a separate volume control (that defaults to 0).

Please try to check the sound device status if its working properly thru right click My Computer icon > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager > (double click) Sound, Video & Game Controller OR System Device > System Speaker. also, take note of the Troubleshoot tab. If still it doesn't work, I think you have to reinstall the sound driver (from its motherboard software CD if it's built-in type). best regards
