Question about Amana ALW780QA

Amana Washmachine (not all water removed during spin) ALW780QAW

It appears to be a 'full speed' spin. All the water is pumped out during initial start of spin. It runs for 3-5 minutes (spin cycle). When the spin cycle stops, I can hear a litle 'water sloshing'. Removing the clothes, most of the top layers (of clothes) are spun 'dry', but the ones at the bottom of the tub are still soaked. There is no visible water standing at the botton of the tub. I removed the hose (from the tub to pump), and inspected the tub opening for obstruction (none visible). Any ideas? (note, this condition was coinsidental with a washing of pants / shirts with a lot of dried drywall 'mud'. Could it be possible that some of the drywall path compound (mud) accumilated at the tub drain, and is preventing a complete water removal during a spin? How to I remove the tub to inspect? Or is the another issue?

Thanks. I did move the drain hose from the laundry tub, to a bucket (on the floor). It definately drains with a lot of pressure. If there was blockage, would not the exit stream pressure, be lower ?? Anyway, same results, with the discharge host at floor level. I was observing the speed of the spin cycle, doesn't seem very fast. The user manual indicates a 2-speed motor. How fast should the motor / drum spin in a spin dry .vs. agitate cycle?

You may have blockage in the drain pipe several feet from washer. if you can run spin cycle with hose in different location ex. tub, sink or outdoors. if this works run long snake down washer drain pipe to clean gypsum residual.

agitate is slow speed. spin is high. but i dont know where the high low switch is.if your spin cycle is slow then high speed is not kicking in. take top panel off see if you have any loose wires. turn and wiggle your cycle switch nob while in spin mode to see if you have an increase in speed. check closed lid switch too. my washer will wash with lid open but not in spin cycle.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 model 44832 200 washer. Will spin sometimes, but doesn't seem to get to full speed. Often won't spin at all and gets F02 error, but it does roll during wash/rinse cycles. ...

he F02 message is a long drain error and it may mean the pump is clogged or bad. You don't provide a lot of detail about if the water is draining out or not but the first thing to check for this error is the drain pump.

The image below shows how to access the pump and remove the filter. This may be your only problem. With the access panel removed you can also make sure the pump is running. Remember to unplug the washer before removing the access panel.

Check the pump for the F02 and make sure you're using HE detergent and there's not excessive suds.

Amana washer model LW6501W2 leaks in front during fill up

It leaks Your washer can develop several types of leaks. You can track down a leak based on when it occurs:

During fill only
During drain and spin only
All the time
During fill only If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:

  • Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

  • The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

  • Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

During drain and spin only A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

All the time If the washer leaks all the time, check these:

  • Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate.

  • Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.

  • Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

Hi, I have a 5yr old Amana Distinctions Super Capacity Plus top load washer, 2spd motor, 3.3 cu ft. I have taken off the front cover to expose the wash tub, because recently when the washer is in a spin...

sounds like a drain pump issue, not able to remove water quick enough before the centrifical force of tub spinning throws it over the top, remove the pump hoses and look for blockages

Shows "LE" in display.

Machine has a bad motor or "stator" on this machine. It is a direct drive winding on the back of the machine. Remove the back panel, the one bolt removes the rotor then you will see the stator winding, replace it and your good to go.

Washer continues to spin slow in the last spin cycle.

Red Ryder, the motor is 1 speed on this model. A couple of things to check; one would be the belt. Look for shavings, cracks or if it's shiney, could be worn. If your p number is p1118410ww, looks like you have 2 belts, agitate and spin and pump. Pump-R0606507, spin-R0606539. Check the pulley, make sure it is not binding, lube it up, and check the pump, something might be binding there. As long as you don't have a grinding, howling noise during spin the bearing should be good. Catriver..post back.
