Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router

Lose "part" of th econnection

Ever since I installed my Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router (2.4 ghz), I've had a problem with it seemingly being the SOLE connection. Whenver I try to view more than one page on the internet, when I click on a movie/tv show and it changes scenes, the internet gateway in the tower seems to disappear, and the only connection I have then is the LAN or High Speed connection. Problem is, the internet runs very slowly then, and internet movies or video content are impossible to view. 90% of the time, I can unplug the wireless G, wait ten seconds, re-plug it, and both internet connections appear. MOST of the time. Sometimes I have to turn off the computer and wait for at least 10 minutes to get both connections to come back on. I did the "run cmd" to see if the numbers were correct, and they are. Should I simply trash this broadband router and get a new one?

    I scan frequently, and just switched this weekend to Microsoft Live OneCare from Norton. I don't think it's a virus. This was my first router, which I got to allow my son to use his laptop from his room.

    I just unplugged the thing and connected my DSL directly to the PC again. Runs beautifully now. I still don't have the Internet Gateway connection, but I'm happy as long as I can do things quickly on the internet.

    Thanks for your help, though. My son will just have to not use laptop in his room when he comes home.

    i have the exact same problem....only sometimes i have to reset my hub also!

    try to scan for viruses or malware. your computer might be compromised. before you installed the router, were you using another router? were you able to connect to the internet before then without any problems?

So....this might sound stupid..but... is firmware the same as drivers??

Try to upgrade the latest firmware for your router and then reset and reconfigure your router , that will fix your problem,if still not ,Check if your router is still under warranty, call linksys for a replacement, if not then it seems your router might have gone bad

connect the broadband modem to the internet port of your router (probably is blue). Then connect your pc to the router.

You have to set your router to act as dns.

Lost Install Disk

You don't need the install disk to use the router. If you plug in the router and press the reset button on the back of the router, the you should be able to connect to the network using only the windows wireless program.
