Re: carrage jam - error message

There is a felt pad under the parking area for the carriage to soak up ink drips. After some time the ink will get sticky and the pad may stick to and wind around a shaft just above it. To check, move the print heads to the left to expose the bottom of the well it is located in and carefully clear the jam.

Re: carrage jam - error message

If you have had this for some time, the ink pads and their well may be clogged with dried ink. look at those. If so, you will have to take them out and clean out the well, then the ink heads should move freely.

My printer quit printing. Carrag jam comes up on the screen when I try to print something out. There isn't anything jamming it. What can I do to fix it

A 'Carriage Jam ' error message displays on the product control panel. The carriage, which holds the cartridges, stalls against the left side of the product. A paper jam might have occurred previously.

Detailed instructions fro resolving a carriage jam along with a video are available here:

Trust this is helpful. :)

Carriage Jam

If either a paper jam or blocked carriage error message appears on
the control panel display, there might be some packing material inside the HP allin-
one. Lift open the print-carriage access door. The orange shipping lock might
still be in place on the left side of the HP all-in-one. Pull out the orange shipping
lock and throw it away

Cartridge jam won't clear HP 5610v

I had the same problem and just got it to work. go to

go to the section "Moving the carriage" turn on printer and then unplug power. If you still cant move the carrage then remove both toner cartridge and all the trays. Then completely disconnect printer and stand it upright (so paper feed and cartridge tray is on top) Look thru the paper feed area to the left side of toner carrage and you will see a little plastic tab around the bottom back of the carrage. That tab is suppose to be inside a track on the bottom of the carrage. I think that when we put in or took out toner we must have pushed it to hard and that piece jumped out of the track and has "locked" the carrage. I just pushed the carrage up carefully and used a letter opener to move the plastic tab back into place (tab is spring loaded) print working fine now. Hope this solves your problem
