This error/problem can occur normally, in any camcorder, and there are steps you can take to prevent and fix the problem:

    1. Don't mix brands of tapes
    2. Run a head cleaner through the camcorder
    3. Only change tapes in a protected area/environment

If the problem does persist, contact the vendor you bought it from, or Canon directly, to get it repaired.

    Notes:
many have got this error , fixed the problem by running a head cleaner and using a hair dryer to gently blow air into the tape mechanism.

i directly opted you to go to tech.. sorry.. try what i have said.. try the cleaner and say me if you get fixed

IF U FEEL THAT Your camera's tape drive is getting stuck. then go on...

Most of the time this is not a real problem at all. If it only happens once in a blue moon, you should not worry too much about it.

One way around it is to take new tape and fast forward, then rewind it completely before attempting to record. This "loosens up" the tape, mechanically unsticking the tape from itself so it doesn’t get stuck.

Another common reason is that the tape is improperly tensioned. Usually it is simply wound too tightly. Fast forwarding and rewinding in your camera or tape deck will usually retension the tape.

It could be something more serious like the “tape end sensor”. It can also be anything from dirt, a bad connection, flex cable or even a failed SMD capacitor.

To name an exact part or cost would be just guessing. The average repair on those machines can be from about $60.00 and up depending on the parts that are changed, and the time spent on it it could cost more...

is it worth fixing? That is 100% you decision. I would get a professional to look at it first and get an estimate on the repair- if it’s needed.

    thank you.

SOURCE: push the reset button

let the camera sit alone for About 20 min,so that the camcorder automatically turned off. I turned it off, then back on and did not receive the reset button prompt.
if that doesn't work unplug the battery and all power and plug back in.

Panasonic camcorder dv

This problem is in the owners manual. It says that if you press reset and the problem keeps recurring you must have it serviced. Per the panasonic website if you purchased the camcorder greater than 1 year ago the flat fee for repair is about $265. Buy a new camcorder, thats the most cost effective solution.
