Question about Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation

Songs will not play!

My 4 GB Nano will not play music (I don't have any vidoes, so I don't know if those work.) All the menus work, but when I load up a playlist, a song will appear, and the "play" symbol appears in the upper corner, but the song does not actually play. The song timer/clock stays at 0:00. I have tried suffling through all my songs, but none of them will play. It is almost as if the IPOD is stuck on "pause" even though it is on "play." The IPOD had been working fine, then I headed out on a 14 hour drive all excited to listen to my music, but 20 minutes into my trip, this problem started. Now, three days later, it still won't work. I am about to head back home, and would really like to be able to listen to the IPOD during the drive. Any advice for this frustrated user?

Re: Songs will not play!

First, do a reset, which you can do by holding the menu key( top key) and the middle circular key at the same time for at least 10 seconds. u will see an apple on your screen for about 5 seconds or more, no longer than 15 sec, and ur ipod will turn back on. that might work. if it doesnt, just hope a specalist on this site, which trust me, dere is a ton of them, can help you.

I AM THE ANTIMAC! (Get a Zune - or any other generic mp3 player)
Hrrmm, could it be the file format? iPod plays m4a files, so if they're wma or something like that, it won't work. Have you played the current songs on it before with any luck? Did it stop in the middle of a song, at the end of a song or did it not work at all? With what method did you get the music on there? Download (Free/at cost?), Ripped from CD (What format? Using what program?).

How to down load a song to my appleipod nano 2gb?

To download songs to iPod nano: m Simply connect iPod nano to your computer. If iPod nano is set to update automatically, the download begins. Important: The first time you connect iPod nano to a computer, a message asks if you want to transfer songs automatically. If you accept, all songs, audiobooks, and other items are deleted from iPod nano and replaced with the songs and other items from that computer. If you don’t accept, you can still download songs to iPod nano manually without deleting any of the songs already on iPod nano. While music is being downloaded from your computer to iPod nano, the iTunes status window shows progress, and the iPod nano icon in the Source list flashes red. When the download is complete, a message in iTunes says “iPod update is complete.” If you set iTunes to download music manually, you can reset it later to update iPod nano automatically. For more information, see “Updating iPod nano Manually” on page 22. To reset iTunes to update iPod nano automatically with all songs and playlists: 1 Open iTunes and select iPod nano in the Source list. 2 Click the Options button and click Music. 3 Select “Automatically update all songs and playlists.” The download begins automatically.

Memory loss on ipod

The ipod nanos the smallest product in the Apple iPod line. The fourth generation Nano comes in two different capacities, each capable of holding thousands of songs.
  1. The fourth generation iPod Nano comes in 8 GB and 16 GB models. The 8 GB version can hold 2,000 songs, and the 16 GB version can hold 4,000 songs.
  2. Tips
  3. Song capacity estimates are based on music encoded in Apple's proprietary format at a standard, average bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the better the quality. Songs deviating from Apple's standard (for example, CD-quality music or high bitrate MP3s) will use more disk space.
  4. History
  5. Nano's predecessor, the iPod Mini, was released on January 6, 2004, and was available with a 4 GB hard drive. The Nano was first released on September 7, 2005, and was the first iPod to use flash memory. It was first available in 2 GB and 4 GB versions. The fourth generation Nano was released on September 9, 2008.
  6. Size
  7. The fourth generation iPod Nano is 3.6" tall and 1.5" wide.
  8. Video
  9. The third generation Nano, released on September 5, 2007, was the first Nano to feature video playback. Storing videos on Nano can dramatically reduce the amount of songs it can hold.

My i-pod nano (2GB) will not hold more than 43 songs when I import from my cd's. My ipod is clear of all songs and so is my library. Are I not suppose to have at least a 500 song capacity?

I have an I-pod nano 4 gb. What I think is going on is you are loading full "wav" files. The 500 songs is predicated on low quality "mp3" songs. Normally, I-tunes will convert the "wav" file to an "mp3" file.

Check your music files on your computer and assure they are "mp3" files. If they are make sure your I-pod does not have other "stuff" on it. Use I-tunes to reset it an "like-new" condition (that removes all files)., then use I-tunes to re-install your music.

If you are downloading files from the I-tunes store make sure they are safe so you do not loose your investment in tunes.

Since they are from cd's make sure the ripped files are safe, then try a re-install.

Should work.

Stuck i pod

Just to be sure, did you use iTunes to load the songs into your iPod?

Also, are the other songs the right format for the iPod, MP3 or AAC, etc?

Are the songs in your iTunes library?

Did you move your music to a different place on your computer so that iTunes can't find it? You will know if that is true because all of the music except for Garth Brooks will have an icon by it.

Does your music play when you click on it in your music library? If it does, then it is not properly loaded into your iPod

Maybe the other music is corrupted and needs to be replaced.

You can reload all of the music back into the iPod to see if that works. Hope that helps.
