Car will not start...not getting fuel.

Car was low on fuel. I put fuel in the car. Got home and realized I forgot to put the fuel cap back on. Tried to start the car and it would not start. Car is not getting fuel. I would like some troubleshooting tips. Also where is the fuel filter located on the car? I would greatly appreciate any help and information you can provide with this matter. 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2 litre automatic transmission.

The only thing i can think of is the gas cap of could have set the fuel pump switch for the most part its back in the back behind a panel look in your owner manual and you should be able to find it if you have miss place your owner manual see if you can download one its www.edmunds.com if no luck call your local Gm-dealership in the parts department and they be able to tell you wish you the best of luck Michigan Man

98' Honda Accord v6 cranks but won't start. Getting spark, Fuel pump is working, tried using starter fluid still won't start.

Does it crank at all? Or do you mean the engine turns over but never starts. Different places to look depending on what is happpening. If the starter engages but there is just a whirling sound (not like it normally sounds), the timing belt may have broken.

1995 Firebird After Running Low on Gas

You have most likely sucked residue in the bottom of the fuel tank into your fuel filter, This can cause it to get blocked, Try fitting a replacement fuel filter as it's most likely it's never been changed anyway.

1987 Toyota Camry, auto, 4 cyl. I thought I was low on gas (since had fuel light on)...car would not start. Walked home (20 mins) came back and added fuel (1 gal), started and drove to gas station - filled...

theres a couple of things to check for this first generation series,, check the Air flow meter connector FP terminals, and intake tube, make sure its tight and doesnt have a leak.

Car turns over great getting fuel and spark but wont start

Spark without fuel = just spark. :) Are you getting fuel movement? You could have a bad/clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump - could be a few things. Check to make sure you're getting fuel.

Car won't start!!

AmyLynn001, 1st thing, let the car sit for a couple hours (because u smell gas, it's definitely flooded). Turn the key to start (do NOT touch the gas pedal!! Cars are designed now to start w/out touching the gas pedal. If u do, u will flood it, and make it even more difficult to start) When u turn the key, only hold it to turn the engine over for no more than 10 seconds. If after the 10 seconds it doesn't start, turn key off, wait about 10 seconds, repeat. (this is to reduce wear and tear on the starter, and to not run the battery down real quick). It sounds like several problems coming together caused this. U state that the car needs a tune up, it's likely the overheating, need of a tune up (car not performing to optimum efficiency) and pushing on the gas pedal, resulting in flooding, all came together to create this no start condition. Eliminate any one (preferably all!) and u should be able to start the car. So, hopefully just letting it sit and not touching the gas pedal while attempting to start will be enough to get u back on the road, then get that tune up soon. Let me know how u make out.

Car won't start

Your fuel pump is sticking and not pumping, this is common if you run the fuel down to less than 1/4 full, the fuel pump needs the gas to cool itself, below a 1/4 tank the pump is not getting cooled and after repeatably running low on fuel it overheats and fails. Running the car near 1/2 tank extends the pump life to many years more than running tank below a 1/4 full..
