Error 0xc00000e9, and vista no genuine?

That has happened because the files that have been used for the Themes are NOT Microsoft files. Also they are not Digitally Signed as "good" by MS either. This is not really a fault just an indication. What I would do is do a system restore back to a time when PC was A OK.
Startup PC, press F8 at instant of turn on... choose Safe Mode. when you are asked if you want safe desktop or system restore choose restore, when you get to the restore menu, choose a date BEFORE you had problems, in any event, there may only be one or two to choose from. Just follow the instructions and you should be back to working with all that behind you.

TRYING TO INSTALL EMPIRE EARTH 2 AND KEEP GETTING ERROR : DEFAULT COMPONENT ,E:DATA2.CAB,THE REQUEST COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE OF AN I/O DEVICE ERROR. HOW DO I FIX THIS ? MY SYSTEM IS WINDOWS XP ....

A I/O device error would point to a faulty installation source. Is the CD/DVD in good shape ? no scratches?

Try cleaning it delicatly and install again. If this fails try to copy CD contents to your local drive and install from there.

I/O device error

Hmm? Your drive may be corrupted which makes it unuseable. I hate to admit your files may be lost at this point also. In order to reuse the unit, repartion and format the unit. I hope this helps.

When i try to play a cd or a dvd on my laptop, there is a message that says, the request could not perform because of an I/O device error. how can i rectify this?

Could be caused by alot of factors but is more than likely the drive getting ready to fail. Could also be a bad cable, if you reboot and the problem fixes itself I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it continues you might want to replace the drive. Also you might want to update the firmware for the drive (this I have found usually doesn't do anything unless ther is a known issue with your drive's firmware).

Drive is not accessible. I/O Device Error

Method 1: Change the transfer mode for your CD drive in IDE Channel Properties
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager.
3. On the right side, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4. Right-click the channel where your CD drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.
5. On the Advanced Settings tab, in the Transfer Mode box for the device that represents your CD drive, click PIO Only. Typically, this device is Device 0. Then, click OK.

If the issue is not resolved after you change the transfer mode for the secondary IDE channel device 0, your CD drive may not be located there. Use the same procedure to change the transfer mode back to DMA if available. Then, repeat these steps to change the transfer mode for IDE devices in the following order until the issue is resolved:
• Primary IDE channel, device 1
• Secondary IDE channel, device 1
Note Primary IDE channel, device 0 is connected to your boot disk. This is the hard disk that typically contains your operating system.

OR

Make sure that all cables are connected correctly
If you have another cable, try to use it. For USB devices, try to use another USB port. If it is internal dirve is there then Reseat it that means remove it and reinstal that
Then Set the BIOS as Default for that restart the system and before windows screen it gives the instructions how to boot in setup once you are in setup, on the bottom it says press F9 or F10 to set as default; different BIOS have different options so do the as the on screen instructons says.

OR

Try to access the media or device on another computer; try it on your friend or family computer
if it is not working contact your H/W Vendor
