Problem for Compaq Presario M2000 PC Notebook
Compaq Presario m200 Laptop system recovery
Hi I have a Compaq Presario m2000 laptop and need to restore it to factory spec, I dont think it came with recovery discs as I think they are partitioned on the hard drive. How do I do a system restore ? The operating system is windows XP

- I havea Compaq Presario M2000 notebook that has had a Malware for the last 2 weeks ans I have tried a nuber of cleaning programs some work in Safe mode some do not.I have been able to save files to an external hard drive and make sure thay are clean.
Now I just want to runa recovery disk or via a memory stick into my laptop and get back to running normal again.

i have a problem i want to restore my compaq m2000 to factory standard but i cant because my disk drive does not show up in my computer and when i try to use a disk it doesnt work

If you have important files then you should backup it first.
You insert the recovery disc and start with it. the system will runit automatically and restore the original one. Hoever im not sure if the 2nd partition will be affected.
You also insert any windows Bootable installation disk and from there, there is an option that you format only the C:\drive however if you have no important files on 2nd drive or d:\drive you can delete both the partion and repartition it with 2 partition drive.

buy or download a windows disk. insert it and format the partition and install a fresh copy

just did this last night actually
put in the windows os cd, and when the screen says press any key to boot from cd, do so
to restore to factory settings without creating a partition, you can choose to delete your C drive partition, after which it will automatically restart and install from the os cd. Then install all your drivers and you should be ready to go
