How old is the PRAM battery? If you have never changed it since you bought the computer, be aware that they last from three to five years. A dead battery will prevent the computer from starting.

And if the battery is new then follow steps below and ur problem will be solved..

Reset PMU (Power Manager Unit).

1. Disconnect all cables except the power cord.
2. Touch any metal surface to ground yourself, disconnect the power cord, and open the computer.
3. Find the PMU reset button and push it. once only. It's a tiny, tiny button, probably unlabeled, located on the motherboard and probably near the battery.
4. Close the computer, reconnect everything, and give it a try.

If this doesn't work, replace the battery. BTW, if you have a power strip, that doesn't necessarily mean that it gives surge protection. Get a good surge protector/battery backup.

Please Don't forget to rate me as fixya..

Mac mini: How to reset the PMU

    The Power Management
Unit (PMU) is an integrated circuit (computer chip) typically found on a
computer's logic board. As its name implies, the PMU is responsible for
managing all aspects of the computer's power. It controls hard disk spin down,
sleep and wake, some charging aspects, and how any devices attached to the
    computer affect sleep.

    If the settings in
the PMU become corrupted, it can result in operational anomalies such as your
computer not turning on, not displaying video, or not waking from sleep, among
other things. In these situations, you may need to reset your computer's PMU.

    Resetting the PMU
will not resolve issues in which the computer stalls or is unresponsive. A PMU
reset should only be used as a last resort in the case of a hardware failure or
when the power management system is suspected. Resetting the PMU returns the computer
hardware, including NVRAM, to default settings and forces the computer to shut

    Before you reset the
PMU, try restarting your computer instead, which may resolve your issue. If
your computer has stopped responding, try these steps, in order, until the
    computer responds:

    1. Force Quit (Option-Command-Escape)

    2. Restart

    3. Force Shut Down (press the
      power button for 10 seconds)

    If none of the above
steps resolved the situation, reset the PMU. To reset the PMU on a Mac mini:

    1. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power

    2. Wait 10 seconds.

    3. Plug in the power cord while
simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the

    4. Let go of the power button.

    5. Press the power button once
more to start up your Mac mini.

Important: This procedure also resets the
computer's PRAM. Be sure to reset your computer's time, date, and other system
    parameter settings as necessary.

    If you have reset
the PMU on a Mac mini and it still isn't displaying video or turning on, contact Apple
technical support (1-800-APL-CARE in the U.S.) or take your computer to your
    local Apple Retail
Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)
    for diagnosis.

Desktop background doesn't show

I get this too. (Love using the solid blue background)

1. Check if there are any other users logged in on the Mac.
2. Log off all the users including yourself
3. Log in only on your user account and change the background

If that doesn't work, restart first and repeat.

If even that doesn't work, change to another solid background first and then change it back to the picture.

Is there a way to show all of my open OSX applications across the center of my screen so I can select any one with one mouse click?

Just hold down the Command key and press the Tab key (Command-Tab). Mac OS X immediately displays a mini-Dock with icons for each of your open applications. At the left side of the mini-Dock, you’ll see the icon for your current application. Next to it (and highlighted), you’ll find the icon for the application you last used. Each time you press the Tab key (without releasing the Command key), you can cycle through your open applications.

Unplug both from power , and remove mac battery, restart first mac then TV, already connected.

Check source with tv remote, and ensure mac res is correct.
