Re: Can't use tv without remote

There are many TV's that require a remote to operate them.

Are you saying your remote is lost or broken?

If that's the case, and you don't wan't to purchase an original replacement, you could try a universal remote.

Many 'universal' remotes come pre-programmed or can be programmed by entering codes for the make of TV.

Hope this helps.

Model WD-65638. What are the instructions for programming remote?

If you have the original remote of your TV, it doesn't need to be pregrammed. If doesn't work, it's defective.
If you want to program a universal remote, you need the codes of the remote for your TV. If you don't have the manual you should look for it using google with terms

Manual make and model of remote

If you have a manual and no codes for your TV, follow the prodedure indicated to scan your TV with the remote till you find the code or cover all the range of the remote without getting a working code.

Philips 42pf7320a37 Plasma TV. Menu appears without being requested remotely or manually. Must select Menu Remotely (or manually) to regain screen. Screen stays on for a few seconds or up to 20...

Check that this is not caused from a stuck button, or a defective remote recalling the menu.

If it is not the remote, then you will probably need to replace the control board or the button assembly.

Solutions: 1) on the side of the TV there should be buttons to operate functions such as volume or channel.
2) purchase a replacement remote
3) purchase an all in one / multi function remote, and program it using the codes provided in the manual

I have a Mitsubishi 73"

i would suspect your control buttons on your front panel on the set have become shorted. specifically the volume buttom down. This is freezing you control functions. like someone is holding the volume down button all the time. or intermitantly. this cuircit board is on front of the set. I have seen this problem a few times at the shop. The common repair is to replace that button assembly cuircit board. I believe the last time it cost the customer around 85 dollars, but like all things depends on the part and the technician that puts it in.

Set wont turn on from remote intermittently and occasionally turns itself off W70-2100

Does the TV turn off on it's own, or is the remote being pointed at the TV when it goes off - without you pressing the power button on the remote? If the TV goes off with the remote pointed at it (without you pressing the power button), it could be old batteries, or you need a new remote. Have you tried replacing the batteries in the remote? If it's not the batteries, have you got a universal remote lying around somewhere that you can program to operate the TV and try to operate the TV with it? If you determine that it's not the remote, it is probably something to do with the infrared remote sensor, or something faulty in the sensor's circuit board that controls the power switch. How old is the TV? If still under warranty, I would call the manufacturer and explain your problem. They will be able to assist you with any further questions you may have. The number for the manufacturer's Customer Service is located inside of the owner's manual. If you no loner have the manual, you can easily get the contact info via the manufacturer's website. Good luck, and I hope this helps...

I have a phillips universal CL034 remote control and i dont know the code or how to program it to my television

without knowing the brand of the tv i have to give you generic instructions on how to program the remote without knowing the codes:

  1. Turn your tv on manually
  2. on the remote press TV once
  3. Press and hold the set button until the LED red light blinks twice, then release the set button
  4. enter 9-9-1. the led will blink twice
  5. aim the remote at the tv and slowly alternate between pressing POWER and TV. Stop when the TV turns off after pressing power.
  6. lock in the code by pressing and releasing the set button. the led will blink twice.
