Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Inkjet Printer

My computer will not grab the paper that is loaded in the tray, saying "out of paper". Sometimes I can handfeed a single page at a time, but sometimes the paper gets pulled in and just jams. This is getting really frustrating after a year of excellent performance. I hate the idea of just throwing this thing out--a real waste and environmental nightmare. Can it be easily fixed? I have opened all openings, re-installed software, etc. Help!

I can do that, but it still doesn't grab the paper.  The grabbers seem to be corrupted in some way.

All I can say is "DITTO".

I have the same printer. It worked about a year and all of a sudden, it won't feed the paper. It shows the Out Of Paper message and if I try to feed the paper, it shows Paper Jam.

It is not worth having it repaired. Is this a manufacturing defect?

Usually when this happens to me I can just push the stack of paper in towards the printer and it will grab the paper.

* Where exactly you are receiving this error, on the printer display or on in computer?

* When exactly you are receiving this error?

* Does the unit print a self test page? Steps are given below:

1. Load the paper tray with unused plain white paper.
2. Press Setup until Print Report appears on the display, then press OK.
3. Press OK again. The self-test report prints.

Printer says its out of paper, plenty of paper hp psc 1610

Another example of the paper sensor being messed up by paper dust, which can block the sensor to such a degree that it reports the wrong thing.
Clean the sensors with compressed air and then your printer will report the correct things to the central unit and you should be fine.
