Sony DCR-PC101E recording kaput

As suggested on the forum, as a fix for error C:31:23, i tapped on the bottom a little too vigourously and suddenly the display and recording went kaput. however it plays back nicely and without any problem. Any suggestions???

Have you tried resetting your camera by pressing the reset button on the right side looking from behind. I understand you have to reset after removing the battery and also make sure you are not connected to the mains power supply.

Sony dcr-pc101e c31-22 is flashing and camera wont work

Hi, not sure if C31:22 is the same or similar as the error code C31:23, but I had C31:23 and seem to have fixed it....for now. after trying all types of battery removals, the thing that fixed it was:

eject the tape
Gently wiggle (with your finger) the black roller with the thin white tube as its spindle
Pressed reset button
re-installed the tape

The error disappeared and has not been seen since.
