I recently purchased the Uniden 9488 Base Phone and 4 cordless phones to go with it. Since that time there we have received and made phone calls with no problem, with the exception of one very important phone number that will not ring into our house. The person can call from their landline phone and it can hear it ringing but it does not ring on our end nor does the voice mail pick up. We have also recently changed from ATT to Cable Phone and the other person recently installed BellSouth Fast Access Lite DSL. We can call their house with no problem but they can't call us. Any clue as to why this might be happening. I am beginning to wonder if there is a way to block a number from the phone and I have done it in error.
-   In error I deregistered my TRU9488 hand set and cannot register it again.
I follow the booklet instructions, but keep getting - Registration failed.
What am I doing wrong?-   richly
OU might need to deregister the hand set first by holding down the red
end (hang up key) and keep it down while holding the # key. If
deregister wont work use base unavailable and yes, you are sure twice.
List the handset numbers of those working handsets
Using a WORKING handset follow these directions
Resetting Handsets
If you want to register the handset to a different base or
replace a handset with another one, you must first clear the
registration information from the base and the handset.
1. Press and hold [ ] and [#] for
at least 5 seconds, until the
SYSTEM RESET menu
appears.
2. Select the DEREGISTER HS
submenu. WHICH HANDSET?
appears in the display.
3. Move the cursor to select the handset ID to be de-registered
from the list, and then press the OK soft key. DEREGISTER HS
appears. CHOSE A NUMBER THAT IS NOT ONE OF YOUR WORKING HANDSETS
4. Move the cursor to select YES, and then press the OK soft key.
When ARE YOU SURE? appears, select YES. You will hear a
confirmation tone.
PUT THE HANDSET IN THE BASE CHARGER AND IT SHOULD REGISTER

My Uniden PowerMax 5.8 GHz telephone shows ''In Use'' blinking, which is supposed to happen only when I'm actually ON the phone. If I try to make an outbound call, it actually works, despite the ''In Use'' warning beforehand. However, if I try to receive an inbound call, it does not ring through at all (sending the caller straight to voicemail), or it might ring one quick ring and then send the caller to a busy signal, in both cases acting as if the phone is indeed off of the hook being used (which it is not). I'm using the phone with a VOIP service, if that makes any difference.
