Ok. THIS IS THE FIRST SIGN YOUR LAPTOP IS GOING TO FAIL. I have this exact same laptop and the exact same issue except that mine has already died. Go to hplies.com and you will see almost 2,000 users with the same issue. The problem lies with the nVIDIA GFX chip on the motherboard. THE ISSUE IS UNREPAIRABLE. Any repairs will force the laptop to fail again.

This issue has actually landed me in small claims court where I am suing for hte full cost of this laptop because not only is hte laptop defective, nVIDIA admitted it, and HP covered it up.

Join us at hplies.com and we will give you the know how to get this issue fixed/your $ back. We even have links to all of the information!

Hi there! I would like to know how to unlock internet button from my HP probook. Its button light is orange and I have no access to the internet. I'll glad you anything you can do for me! ...

Not knowing the model of your unit, I respond with a general answer:

Using the wireless controls

You can control the wireless devices in your computer using these features:

?? Wireless button

?? Wireless Assistant software (select models only)

?? HP Connection Manager software (select models only)

?? Operating system controls

Using the wireless button

The computer has a wireless button, one or more wireless devices, and two wireless lights. All of the

wireless devices on your computer are enabled at the factory, so the wireless light is on (blue) when

you turn on the computer.

The wireless light indicates the overall power state of your wireless devices, not the status of individual

devices. If the wireless light is blue, at least one wireless device is on. If the wireless light is amber, all

wireless devices are off.

Because the wireless devices are enabled at the factory, you can use the wireless button to turn on or

turn off the wireless devices simultaneously. Individual wireless devices can be controlled through
Wireless Assistant software (select models only) or through Computer Setup.

Recently downgraded to windows xp from vista, Atheros wireless will not turn on automaticcal when computer is restarted. At the windows loading screen, the wireless light turns blue for 3 seconds and then...

I had this problem too. You need the HP Wireless Assistant. Download it here- ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36770.exe

Once installed, open the HP Wireless Assistant and click Properties button. Check the box next to "Independent controls for installed wireless devices." Then click "Turn All On" button. On next boot it will be enabled!

I have a pavilion dv7-7123cl and the wireless is not working..the signal is always orange when it should be blue

The light is pressure sensitive. Press it and see if it turns blue. If that doesn't fix your problem then the adapter might be disabled. To check that go into your Network and Sharing center and on the left side of the screen click on manage network connections. There should not be an X on wireless network connection, if there is then right click on it and choose enable.

I have compaq presario f730us and I can't get to internet connection. I have orange light instead of blue. Can this be a motherboard issue?

I can tell you, screen issues and wireless issues are one of the problems that goes with a laptop that is GOING TO FAIL. In your case, the F700 is the more expensive F500 which was confirmed by HP to be a failure.

First the problem manifests as a loss of the wireless connection. Soon, intermittent failures and random reboots and a HOT laptop will turn into a black screen and an inoperable laptop > ie a door stop.
