To whom it may concern. im looking to reboot my acer 6935 but i dont know what way to do it, i dont have the recovery disc. could you please help. thanking you.. brian o' connell

This procedure will work usually unless there has been an alterations to the originally installed OS on the Acer. On recent Acer computers they have a hidden volume on the disk labeled PQService.
This volume is for restoring the computer to the factory settings in same condition as purchased new. It will erase everything currently on the main hard drive.

Step 1: Backup everything that is important to you, on a disk or separate hard drive.
This includes any documents, pictures and application installers.

Step 2: Reboot the system and press ALT-F10 during the POST to start the Acer eRecovery Management and reinstall the operating system.

Step 3: Select Restore system to factory default.

Step 4: The wizard will lead you through formatting the designated drive and installing the operating system from the computer hard drive to the designated drive.

We purchashed a Acer Aspire 7741G for our small business and one of my staff members formatted it without my permission. He did not make a factory backup disk. Is it possible to have the computer...

Contact Acer directly; their tech support can help you to resolve this. Once you prove legal ownership they'll be able to help you get everything back to normal.

Good luck; please let us know how this turns out.

I formatted my pc purposely to install windows 7.after this, windows fail to install so i re-install windows xp.after this my wireless fail to work.when i tried it says'no supported wireless adapters...

If your computer originally was shipped with Windows XP pre-installed, and you used the "System Restore" CD/DVD disks that were shipped with the computer to reload Windows XP, the correct device-driver for the wireless-adapter should have been automatically installed.

If you used a different disk to reinstall Windows XP, then you can try two things:

1. Access ACER's web-site, do a search for your model, and see if the web-site offers the device-drivers for Windows XP for your model, or,

2. use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the Internet, and access: and do a "Custom" scan. When the scan completes, click the "Optional Hardware Updates" section, to see if Windows Update is offering a device-driver for your wireless adapter. If so, select and install that adapter.

I can't turn on windows firewall. respons message: windows cant running ics service

The Windows Firewall Service not started.
Now to fix:
1. Click Start > Run > Type services.msc
2. Scroll down to Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
3. Double click it.
4. Change startup type to Automatic and Click Start.
5. Click Apply and then OK
6. Reboot.

To reset the Windows Firewall to the factory default state, try this:
Type firewall.cpl in Start, Run dialog.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click the Restore Defaults button.
Click Yes to continue when you see this dialog
Restoring the default settings will delete all settings of Windows Firewall that you have made since Windows was installed. This may cause some programs to stop working.

Alternately, you can use the NETSH command-line to accomplish this:
Open a Command Prompt window and type NETSH FIREWALL RESET
This command resets firewall configuration to default. This provides the same functionality as the Restore Defaults button in the Windows Firewall interface.

Hope it helps.

Software counterfeiting, said by genuine windows validation

This message appears if you have performed a windows update that installed the "Genuine Advantage Notification". It is basically saying that your copy of windows is not a genuine version, and you need to get a valid Windows XP cd-key from Microsoft to get any additional non-critical updates from Microsoft. It is just a reminder and will not stop you from using your PC.

If you want to get rid of the message, you will need to follow the instructions to purchase a new key. Alternatively, if you perform a system restore to before you started getting the message, it should work for you.

To do a system restore, go to start, programs/all programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Follow the instructions on this wizard and it will restore your computer tho the state it was on the date that you choose.

Hope that helps

I used my acer aspire 5315 and restored to factory default using empowering technology and now everytime i start up it keep trying to reinstall the restore programe that came with the computer

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
And the next method you may need to use system restore at the first time you’ve got your Acer 5315 laptop. Here are steps to follow:
Log on as the Administrator => Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => and click the System Restore. System restore will run and here you should see the Welcome System Restore page appear. Click Restore my computer button to an early time if it’s not already
selected. Click next to continue the steps.
There is on your Acer 5315 laptop screen a Restore Point page appear, you can select it and then click the most recent system checkpoint it, click a restore point list. After you click the Next button, System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that
System Restore will create. Click OK.
For the last step click next button on the Confirm Restore Point Selection page. Now the ‘System Restore’ will restore the previous Windows XP configuration on your Acer 5315 OS system. Just finish it by restarts your Acer laptop.
Now log on again to your Acer 5315 PC Notebook as Administrator and watch the System Restore Restoration Complete page

What is the latest version of winrar?

The latest version of Winrar is 3.93.
Link to Download Winrar
Rar Labs
This is an evaluation version. To get the best out of it you have to purchase license. They will send it as a Registry File. However you can use it without purchasing, even after it has expired. But you will not be able to get the best compression.
Prior to install, please backup your System State and create System Restore point
How to back up the System State
  1. Click on Start menu and Click on RUN (or Skip if you have the search bar in the Start Menu)
  2. Type in ntbackup and hit enter (you can type this in thesearch bar in other operating systems such as Vista. Hit enter when it finds and shows it to you)
  3. Click on Advanced Mode.
  4. Click on the Backup Tab.
  5. Locate the System State option and check the Checkbox.
  6. Browse and provide a Backup Location. Has to be a separate Partition. Will need some space as well.
  7. Start the backing up. Will take 20-30 minutes depending on the Size of your System Related files and theRegistry.
How to create a System Restore Point
  1. Get the RUN box as I have explained earlier.
  2. Type in this and hit enter. /restore/rstrui.exe
  3. Click on Create a Restore Point.
  4. Provide a Descriptive Name and Click on Create to Create it.

How do I restore Acer4520 to original specs and erase memory?

If the hard drive has not been formatted, you can do an eRecovery from the recovery partition. Instructions are on this link:

If the hard drive has been changed or reformatted, borrow cd from a Friend and re-install XP, using the license that should be on the bottom of the laptop. Then you can download the drivers from Acer's website.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
