Can i use a Netgear WPN111 USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter with a xbox ?

No definitely not....

If you want your Xbox to be wireless, then you need to buy Xbox wireless adapter...

Bcoz the Xbox wireless adapter comes with a pre-built in drivers....
but other brand wireless adapter donot comes with a built in drivers, you need to install the drivers using a driver cd....But Xbox do not allow driver cd's to be installed on it... so you will not be able to use ordinary wireless adapter instead of Xbox wifi adapter...

Problems with WiFi netgear WNDA3100

the drivers should be installed in windows 7 by default, their so called "smart wizard" has some compatibility issues with windows 7, I get it to load up and it will shut down or glitch out. What I did was uninstall the downloaded driver and use the default windows drivers, flipped the switch off to my built in G wifi adapter and the netgear automatically kicked in and took over as the default wireless adapter.

Make sure your router has no mac filtering. If there is mac filtering disable it and try again. If issue persist reset the router and set accordingly. If you need further help please post.

Netgear Wireless adapter

1. Windows not shutting down may be due to mouse incompatibility. e.g Toshiba with Logitech Mouse. Microsoft mouse works better with Toshiba in my view.

2. Set modem to NAT mode, ensure pass phrase upper and lower case preserved on your wireless machine (case sensitive).

3. Transfer WEP or WPA-PSK[TPIK] pass phrase to your Netgear Wizard as a Hex Key (Key 1).
