Question about Sony Handycam DCR-HC40 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Hi camera gurus, thanks for your helpful advise...
Sony Handycam DCR-HC40 Mini DV
-I turn camera on power cord connected...all normal
-Open tape tray..sounds a bit more slower and noisier as before, like a bit loose..
Closes normal, but after two seconds being closed it makes a bit of a dragging noise while it loads the tape.( Like a cat purring)
After one second normal screen the following appears:
-Re-connect power source
-Additional top right screen blinking c:32:11
-middle of the screen eject sign is blinking
After 5 seconds the tray opens by itself half way. Then it waits for two seconds, makes the same strange dragging noise and ejects the tape.
Sometimes it does it automatically, sometimes I have to connect/reconnect the power again. Then I can remove the undamaged tape.
I did the same procedure 5 times with the same result.
It sounds like the tape door is out of alignment, causing stress on the tape and the inside mechanical system. Requires a visit to the service shop.
