you know i've tried that. I went to compaq site and downloaded the ati driver already and tried the function key and f5 where the lcd and computer are located. When i hit that all it does is tries to go the computer lcd screen but ends back on my television. Then i thought it was the inverter board but that couldn't be because i've changed the lcd screen already. Still don't know what else it could be if you can or anyone else can help please. thanks

If you are hooked up the the external monitor and/or TV and can see the desktop, you can probably reselect the internal display via software from Display Properties.

In most cases you can change from the external display to the internal and vice versa by holding down the blue Fn key, and hitting the proper number on the keyboard. The correct key has a blue icon meant to resemble a monitor on it.

This is if the repair/replacment of the internal screen was done correctly and the screen is actually working. If the screen is not actually working, though, this will not help you.

I suggest that the notebook screen is switched off. Check along the Function keys for a Screen Symbol and then press Fn and the F key with the symbol. (It is F5 in my case).
    Hope this helps.

You need to have access to another external monitor to see if you can switch the video to operate the computer. Do you know for sure that the computer is booting up? If so, how do you know without a monitor? Also look on the keyboard and look at the function icons on the number keys, hold down Fn while holding down the key that looks like a monitor screen, this is the key combination that switches the video from internal to external.

Black screen on compaq evo n610c

    Couple of things to try:
Boot to safe mode by hitting F8 after you press start button. In safe mode try Last Known Configuration.
If that does not work then: reboot and log into safe mode with VGA. This will allow you to go into Device manager and see if you have a bad video driver. Try those two things and let me know what happens..
