Red gun suddenly went wacko

Watching tv then all of a sudden noticed a red reflection. then realized the reflection was the red gun broadcast but warped. gun appears solid like it has not moved. when i checked the convergence, the lines looked like they were warped by a big magnet.
any suggestions on what i might do? thanks

love fixing stuff and am fairly handy w/ most everything except electronics. however, after looking into the guts of this tv, i don't think i would have a clue as to where the ic is, let alone removing and replacing.

any way you could give me a little more guidance?

t, pulled out the board and tried to remove the two ic's but could not seperate from the heat-sink so back to plan b. looked up bp95-00142e at and pictured item was not my board.

aa41-00340c is the # printed on mine but was not able to find anything. another website had a bunch of folks with the same problem with their pth5498. one guy tried replacing the ic's but no luck. he finally bought board #aa9501846d from partstore and, behold, problem solved. that board looks EXACTLY like mine - components, wires, heatsinks, etc. only $85, free shipping. what do you think?

This sounds like my TV! Red "shadows". Is this board easy to replace (for a lady)? My TV is about 5 to 6 years old.

green looks all square but the red color dips on onside of the screen and shoots up like an skate ramp on the other. Even when looking at "video 2" message floating on blue screen you can see a definate red shadow. How easy is it to fix this?

Red Convergence IC bad.....small circuit board by itself up
above main boards..........replace both IC's for reliability...
STK392-040.........DO NOT USE GENERIC IC'S ! I use only
PANASONIC brand = no re-calls !!
Re-align when repair complete............T.

How about replacing the board...that would be easiest....

    Part # BP95-00142E..... source = J & J International,Inc.....

Cost about $75.00......board is mounted at CRT level by itself

    and unplugs easily...............................T.

JVC AV-56WP74 Colors quit working or went out of balance.

Guns or CRT are probably ok. Your TV needs a convergence IC STK392-120 replacement. Lamp are used on LCD and DLP rear projection TV's. Color wheel are for DLP's. :)

While watching the tv, there was a sudden loud, sharp pop, sounding like a gun shot, and the picture went blank

Sounds like either something went pop on the main pcb or in the power supply. Will need a repairman to take a look. & Just a caution if you're feeling adventurous, don't do it yourself unless you know what you're doing!!

Picture suddenly went dark

Hi, Apparently you have a possible component failure with your Panasonic PVQ-2510. This would involve the circuitry at the back/neck of the picture tube. Diagnosis would require familiarity with discreet components, use of a VOM, soldering and general component knowledge. In as much as it is possible that your red drive transistor (or an IC) would require replacement or resoldering, your best bet is to seek the services of a qualified professional. Should you venture to do a do-it-yourself, pls post back. Good luck and kind regards.

Red diagonal spottted lines

These are called retrace lines they occur because of the blanking pulse not turning off the electron guns in the picture tube during the retrace period. Since this is occuring with the red gun there may be a proble with the video circuitry connected to the red electron gun of the picture tube. This would include the red amp and the red driver transistors. You will need a schematic and a multimeter to properly test these items.
