Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750EC Electric Dryer

GE Profile Electric Dryer, Blower nt getting up to speed

We have a GE Profile Harmony Dryer, with communication to the washer (which we currently have deactivated) and the blower motor is not getting up to speed. My husband took the blower motor off and cleaned it and put it back in, and the dryer worked VERY well for about 8 full loads, then it began again, not getting up to speed, which you can hear, now it will not even kick on. Took the motor off cleaned it again same problem. We found where you can turn your unit on push help, at help screen hold back and heart button, the service screen said blower motor not getting up to speed, and sometimes it even says the inlet thermostat has issues. Could some one please help?

Once again took apart the blower motor, did not look visibly wore, figured it must be within the barrings. My Husband first packed the barrings with grease, reattached to dryer, blower did not even attempt to run. Took the blower off once more, cleaned out the grease by spraying with w-d 40 (which breaks down the mechanics grease) and spinning the barrings continuously. Barrings became very free in movement. Put the motor back on, works very well, it worked for the first time on high heat settings. This is a very "hill billy" method of trying to save about $100.00. Would only attempt if you are ready to buy a new blower motor. Could not find any web site which offered only the center shaft, so buying a complete assembly will cost you in the range of $105.00 to $216.00. Like I said our dryer is working very well as of NOW. Diagnostic now says "there are not problems detected with this unit."
One last thing, to do a self diagnostic, do the following.
    Power on.
    At HOME menu push HELP.
At HELP menu push and hold BACK and MY CYCLES at the same time.
A window will appear stating the problem.
After having unplugged the dryer and fixing said problem, the first time turning unit on, it will say CONGRATULATIONS and will go through a self diagnostic. Which includes opening door, touching screen, buttons, and then the dryer identifying sensors, motors, and heating system.
Hope this is of some help to those with some wet clothes out there.

    Once again:

It has now been working for about 3 days, drying the laundry very well for the first couple days, now it is beginning to act up again. One can hear the barrings working so it is evident they are the culprits. After drying the clothes and checking the current status through the help screen, the message "blower motor not getting up to speed" has appeared today. Aloud unit to cool then unplugged and sent back through what I will refer to as "install mode." After that checked once again the service screen, now says " No problems detected." This only last through one normal "preset" mode, with no adjustment to dryness sensor, time, or heat level. Tried adjusting heat to low, and no sensor, on timed dry. Same result. So, my conclusion is that, the blower motor may not be visibly worn, but the barrings could have some wear causing like "kevinvasky" stated the motor to go into "fault mode." I think now I will buy the motor and go from there. Once again I hope this is of some help.

Ordered part from for $115.00 including express shipment 2-3 for $12.95 of the above stated price. Received new unit in two days. If you can hear the barrings in your old unit, when you spin it freely, it is bad. The new unit makes absolutely no noise when spun freely. The barrings are the culprit. Hope this helps some one out there. Process is fairly simple to uninstall and reinstall just be aware of connections to sensors and the fan housing can be a little hard to remove.

On all the ones I've seen with this problem, they've needed a new blower motor. Don't take that as the golden answer because even G.E. tech support doesn't know. It could be the control board, but I haven't seen that yet. G.E. always recommends replacing the inlet thermister, which is accessed through a little cover on the back. Good luck & welcome to the wonderful world of complex electronic appliances.

Very interesting. All the ones I've seen did seem to spin freely, however maybe the slightest resistance causes problems. The computer sends power to the motor & also monitors the speed of the motor. If it's slightly off, depending on the programming, the computer may go into a fault mode. Please keep me posted on how long your solution lasts. Thanks!

You need to replace the blower motor. It says you are having temp problems because the blower is quitting and the heater is overheating.

No normally the blower is not driven by a belt, it is a motor with a blower wheel attached on the end of it...if the blower motor is not working then you will have to replace the blower motor

Blower motor access

You cant you have to remove the control panel, dryer top, top heat shield, dryer front, front drum support, belt, and then the drum in that order to get to the heater. I have been working on these since they have been out and have never changed a heater in one, They just dont burn out. Unplug the dryer and take the access cover off where the power cord attaches to the dryer and make sure the wires are not loose or burnt.
