Hello I purchased this universal remote to control my tv and dvd/vcr. Everything works fine except for the INPUT button. I can't watch dvd's because when I press the Input button nothing happens. I have changed the codes and nothing seems to work. I have gone through every step several times and nothing works. Please help.

Re: RCR4258 Remote control

Sometimes these universal remotes will not do every function on your set . Best thing to do would be to take universal back and go to to get the exact remote . You'll never have to worry about recoding your remote. Good luck

Without seeing the exact connections for each device, i'm going to have to guess. But you should be able to connect your VCR to either your tv directly or to your DVD player. Remember you will need to use the "input" button on your TV or DVD player remote to switch from cable tv to your VCR and back.

How to play dvd

If you are using the built-in DVD tray, press TV (in case you have a Cable Set-top box). Then press Input and navigate with the up/down keys to the line labeled DVD. Then press OK. Finally press play on the Polaroid TDA-03211C remote or on the side of the TV. The remote play button is in the center of the row below the row with skip reverse and skip forward buttons.

If you are using a different DVD player, press the input button and then the up/down arrows to get to the input for your DVD player. Then press the DVD button to control the DVD player.

If you are using a universal remote control, then you may need to program it to the TV and the DVD player separately. (Some universal remotes may only support the TV functions of this TV.) Make sure that your universal remote has an input button that works. You may need to try multiple codes for Polaroid TVs.

I hope this helps.

(note: the DVD must be correctly installed so that the printed side (label) is facing the front of the TV. If you do not get a response, try the disc in another DVD player. The DVD player laser tracking can fail without warning. If the disc plays in other units, this may be the problem.)

  • Hold down the program button on the remote control for 3 seconds. This button mighty be displayed on the remote as "PRG." When you have done this, the LED light on the remote control will turn on. The light will remain on for the remainder of the programing process.

Press the "TV" button on the remote control to let the remote know it will be syncing with a TV. Universal remotes have multiple device buttons that let you connect other devices, such as the VCR and DVD player, to the remote. Having the TV properly programed under the "TV" button makes it much easier to switch back and forth from another device to the TV.

  • Find the proper codes for the TV you are programing. You will find a link with a list of TV codes in the Resources section below. Input the 3-digit code into the remote and press "Enter." If the code took, the light will turn off and the TV will turn on after pressing the "Power" button. If the light remains on, stand closer to the TV and move any objects that are blocking the signal from the remote to the TV, then start the programing process from Step 1 and continue down the list of codes until it works

The set was left to play DVD and I do not know how to get it 'back' to be able to view TV

Which TV do you have? For most "modern tvs", there will be an input or source button on the remote. Press this button to switch inputs and eventually get back to the TV source. Some TVs have a button for the Input or Source on the TV itself. On a few older TVs, the button was marked TV/Video but did the same thing.

An exception: if you have a cable or satellite set top box, you may need to do an extra step. These require you to set the TV on a specific channel depending on the box (Ch3, 4, 60 (Dish Network)) Thus you need to change the input and then the channel if needed.

If you have a tv that uses the input button on the remote but does not have a matching button on the TV, then you need to replace the remote with one that has the feature. Some original remotes are available from (search using the tv model number but not the manufacturer). Universal remotes may have a matching button except for the cheapest ones. However, you will need to try multiple codes to find the one that enables the input button. The universal remotes that can be programmed via a USB connection with a computer are the fastest to set up.

For a combination TV, you may need to press a TV/VCR or TV/DVD button on the remote.

I hope this helps. If you need additional assistance, please add a comment with your TV model number and brand. I may have the manual available.

My Sony DVD player has no sound but everything else works. We tried using the universal remote, and the dvd remote but it still won't work, So what can i do?

On your universal remote you should have separate buttons for different devices: 1) TV, 2) SAT/CBL, 3) DVD/VCR. Be sure to press the one for TV when adjusting the volume of the DVD player. Good luck.

Press and hold the code search button until light comes on then press the device you wish to program (tv-dvd-cable-sate-vcr) then enter the three digit code and release the code search button. You also try holding down the device your wanting to program then enter the code then release the device button (tv-dvd-sat-vcr) to check your tv . If that fails google the rcr4258 remotecodes and it will send you to sites that offers different ways. Good luck
