Digital Audio Output on TV

I have my digital audio output of my Sharp TV connected to my Pioneer Reviever but I get no audio (Digital Audio Oput)when the input of the TV is in HDMI (Input 4). This is my PS3. I get an audio signal when the TV is on regular cable.

Any suggestions?

I have the same exact problem. The audio will not go from the HDMI (PS3) though the TV and into the receiver. This does not make sense. Also, the digital audio plug is flimsy.

When using HDMI as the source, the Dolby Digital data will NOT be passed through. If you switch your cable box or satelitte receiver to PCM audio it will pass that through.

Will 1.5m audio wire function in coax digital audio output?

I know nothing about Bluetooth and in this instance I don't think it will matter. If I understand correctly you are asking if standard audio cable will handle a digital signal over the short distance of 1.5 metres?

I am fairly sure it will and digital information is transmitted around modern cars using twisted pairs of (ordinary) wires.
I don't think that information is either relevant or helpful to you.

I expect you will be using the headphone socket of your digital tv to obtain the output you need. If that is so the output audio will be analogue and not digital.

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-60LE640X TV and I am trying to connect a Samsung HW-H751 Soundbar to it. I have hooked up the optical cable, adaptor and sub woofer, I have tested the Bluetooth function throug

If you are connecting the soundbar to your TV with the digital audio cable, make sure to select "D IN" using the source button on the soundbar. Bluetooth (BT) is a separate source from another device. (phone, etc.) The TV will need to be set to use the digital audio output and probably PCM format. (?) The subwoofer is preconfigured at the factory to mate up with your soundbar. (See below instructions - your soundbar includes the amplifier:)

Digital audio output setting:
After connecting an amplifier with digital audio input and
external speakers as shown, you should set an audio
output format compatible with the programme you are
watching or the device connected.
Go to "HOME" > "TV Menu" > "Setup" > "Option" >
"Terminal setting" > "Digital audio output" > select
"PCM" or "Bitstream".
• When set to "Bitstream", Dolby Digital is output when the Dolby
Digital or Dolby Digital Plus audio formats are received. When
set to "PCM", PCM is output no matter what audio formats are
• When set to "Bitstream", HE-AAC audio formats can be output
as Dolby Digital.

No sound thru pioneer equaliser from quatrron tv

There are two way to do this.
1. Connect all your devices individually to the Pioneer receiver. Doing this allows you so have different sound settings for each input. A reason you might want this is that your DVD will need a DTS or Dolby sound setting so that you get the best audio from your DVD, whereas your TV may only be outputting stereo audio. In this case you would set your Pioneer to a stereo setting.
2. Connect your devices to the Sharp display, then connect the audio output of the Sharp to a free audio input on the Pioneer.
Your Sharp LED TV has two ways to do this: a. If you have a digital capable Pioneer sound system, connect using the "Digital Audio Output". You will need a Toslink (Optical) cable for this connection. b. If you only have analog capabilities in your Pioneer sound system, you must use the 3.5mm (1/8 Inch) analog audio output from the Sharp TV to stereo RCA (red and white plugs that are most commonly supplied with home theatre product).

Hi.How can I connect SHARP HT-SB400 sound bar system to TV SAMSUNG UE40C6000 LED? I have RCA cable supplied by sharp, it's that possible? My SAMSUNG operation system is : T-VAL6DEUC-1016.0

You should be able to connect these but you'll need some extra adapters/converters/cables. The Sharp HT-SB400 has analog audio inputs ( ). The Samsung UE40C6000 LED TV has a digital (optical) output and a headphone jack ( ).

With a RCA (F/F) to 3.5 mm (M) adapter, you may be able to connect the headphone audio out to your sound bar directly. This is an example: . I'm not sure if this will automatically disable the TV speakers.

The other option is to get a digital audio to analog audio converter. One of these is . You'll also need the optical digital cable in addition to the RCA audio cable that you have. With this you'll have to follow the manual for turning on the digital audio output on the TV (under the Sound menu) and turn off the TV speakers.

I hope this helps.

Just got att u-verse and the digital audio output is distorted.

I'd run this by ATT.

If the audio output digital feed is strong enough for the receiver to accept it then the actual audio on the digital carrier is probably the problem. If there is a coaxial output on the cable box, I'd try that, too, to isolate the optical and HDMI as the problem or not.

Or shoot the cable audio into the place your Blu-Ray is connected to prove if it works the same or different.

Adjust the system's audio output settings. These settings are mainly used when the system is connected to audio devices that support digital audio output, such as AV amplifiers (receivers) for home entertainment systems.
Confirm the formats supported by your audio device.
Settings vary depending on supported formats. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the audio device.
Select in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) under in_setting.gif (Settings) in the home menu.
Select [Audio Output Settings].
Select the input connector on the audio device. Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use.

Select audio output formats.
Select all output formats that are supported by the audio device in use. If [Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting audio output formats will not be displayed. If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically set the audio output format. (In this case, the HDMI device must be turned on.)

Check your settings.
You can go back to the previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the in_left_key.gif button.

Save your settings.
The audio output settings are saved on the system.
  • [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio is set to be output from all output connectors by default. If you change the audio output settings, audio will be output only from the connectors that were set.
  • If you change the audio output settings, the system will no longer be able to output audio from multiple output connectors at the same time. For example, if your system is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable and to an audio device via a digital optical cable and you switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings], audio will no longer be output from the TV. To output audio from the TV, switch the setting to [HDMI], or select in_setting.gif (Settings) > in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On].
  • If you select [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 kHz] or [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 176.4 kHz] in step 5, sound may be intermittent or may not be emitted from some audio devices.
  • When using an HDMI cable, only [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio will be output from PlayStation®2 and PlayStation® format software. To output Dolby Digital or DTS audio, you must connect the PS3™ system and the audio device using a digital optical cable and switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings].
  • If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system.

Hope it helped.
